Crysis 3 PS3 Xbox 360 Graphics

Only twenty-four hours left until Crytek Studios unveils the first Crysis 3 gameplay trailer - which, unsurprisingly, should set the bar for near-photo-realistic graphics on the current generation of consoles. Prior Crysis titles, both Crysis 2 and the Crysis HD downloadable installment, are still gorgeous looking - even with titles like Uncharted 3 and Halo 4 milking their respective console tech for everything its (seemingly) worth.

That said, Crysis 3 wouldn't be a Crytek Studios offering if it wasn't positioned to, once again, blow everything else out of the water and deliver the most realistic looking first person shooter title on the market.

Not to be deterred by high profile titles that are scheduled for release this year, Crytek President and CEO, Cevat Yerli, recently responded to a fan query on Twitter - asserting that Crysis 3 is set to deliver improved visuals over the oft-celebrated Crysis 2 console versions:

#Crysis3 will push the #360, #PS3 to its limits, ahead of #Crysis2, but #Crysis3 #PC will be clearly ahead!

Considering Crysis 3 isn't even set for release until 2013, Yerli is, no doubt, making a strong claim, especially since no one expects new Sony or Microsoft console hardware until late 2013 at the earliest. That said, Crytek has a strong pedigree of success when it comes to delivering eye-popping visuals on both consoles and PC's - so there's no reason to doubt that the studio will drop the ball with Crysis 3. Similarly, unlike a lot of developers, Crytek ensured that both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game looked great - so that none of their console customers were given short-shrift.

That said, PC gamers were not as pleased with Crysis 2, as many argued that the overall quality of the game was held-back - to allow for the console versions. Yerli appears sensitive to the controversy, assuring PC gamers that their version will still deliver a superior experience; though, the statement doesn't necessarily mean that Crysis 3 couldn't have pushed the PC boundaries farther if it weren't for those pesky console offerings.

We'll get a better idea of what to expect from Crysis 3 when the first official gameplay trailer surfaces tomorrow. In the meantime, make sure to check out our Crysis 3 Hunter Edition pre-order write-up - featuring first-look screenshots of the highly-anticipated game.

Crysis 3 will arrive for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in 2013.
