‘Crysis 3′ Gameplay Trailer Showcases Incredible Graphics

Crysis 3 gameplay trailer

Electronic Arts never hid the fact they planned to grow the Crysis franchise after its sequel hit last year and so when Crysis 3 popped up on Origin’s pre-order page two weeks ago, it wasn’t at all surprising. EA and developer Crytek quickly confirmed the game, describing its plot, sharing screenshots and teasing and upcoming gameplay trailer.

Today the first full Crysis 3 gameplay trailer is out, and as always, Crytek continues to demonstrate their masterful handling of graphics and visuals. EA has got a strong one-two first-person shooter punch with DICE and their Frostbite 2 and now Crytek with their latest CryENGINE.

Players preferring the open, lush daytime jungle aesthetic and enemy human combatants of the first Crysis over that of the Urban alien-focused sequel, then this trailer may be another step away from the original. Crytek is making up for it by adding a variety of new weapons and making the game look simply incredible, pushing the limits of the PS3 and Xbox 360:

Give a warm welcome back to Prophet, his nanosuit and killing skills:

The majority of gameplay demonstrated seem to cover only one area/mission of the game, in a secluded jungle area at night against one large group of Ceph forces. With the game not coming for another year, except plenty of additional trailers and reveals, along with a large presence at E3 2012 this summer.

Crysis 2 offered stellar visuals and slick gameplay, but its story was lacking and its enclosed environments became repetitive. Will a quickly-developed sequel rectify that? Will the story surrounding the characters and abilities of the iconic nanosuit make sense after pulling some odd story twists in Crysis 2?

Revenge is a simpler and often more gratifying tale – Official Crysis 3 synopsis:

Set in 2047, Prophet is on a revenge mission after uncovering the truth behind Cell Corporation’s motives for building the quarantined Nanodomes. The citizens were told that the giant citywide structures were resurrected to protect the population and to cleanse these metropolises of the remnants of Ceph forces. In reality, the Nanodomes are CELL’s covert attempt at a land and technology grab in their quest for global domination. With Alien Ceph lurking around every corner and human enemies on the attack, nobody is safe in the path of vengeance. Everyone is a target in Prophet’s quest for retribution.

Crysis 3 releases on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in 2013.

  1. The very first scene, when it shows the city, looks exactly like the city in Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

Looks good, I liked the last game, will probably get this.

  2. test

  3. this will be a good game..no doubt about it. It just sucks that they sit there and say sandbox this and sandbox that but c2 was far from sandbox, then the visuals on the pc version felt way below gamers expectations. EA/CRYTEK seems to not really care about their fans or what they want from them rather; “heres what we made, buy it or not , we really dont care” attitude that really turns gamers off. This is not enough however to get gamers to quit buying their product as the products they put out are really pretty good. Crytek has the “drug dealer” type advantage over gamers knowing full well that anything they put out with the Crysis name on it will earn them a “prophet”..lol. I want a true sandbox Crysis game with hardware melting visuals and fluid controls as was the original! Will we get that? time will tell but my gut tells me; no! I hope the guy who did the BLACKFIRE MOD for Crysis 2 is ready for another project! heres to hoping the devs will get right!

    • I don’t think that’s their attitude.

      • at least their QA department does (i know some of em)

  4. **fell** lol

  5. Well, I hate EA, so I might not get this game. If I was not worried that EA would do something to male the game annoying to do anything on, I would not mind.

  6. Nice graphics and all….but I’m sick the the aliens and want my open world back…on an island too! I’d like an island game over city one anyday for a Crysis game…fluid amazing graphics and animations on a beautiful open world Island, pushing the limits of computers all over again. Awesome ^^

  7. I’m finding it hard to even want to play this after Crysis 2, which was CRAP.
I’ll be buying this one used that’s for sure.
