Though it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, Mark Meer, voice actor for the male Commander Shepard in the Mass Effect series, has confirmed in an interview with RGPSite that he will be back in Mass Effect 3. BioWare has come right out and blatantly stated that it will be possible to kill off Shepard at the end of Mass Effect 2, but what about those that end the game with Shepard still breathing? Meer would surely have to stick around to record the lines for those of us that will do everything within our power to keep him alive.

I personally really liked Meer's voice acting in Mass Effect. He really helped me connect with Shepard over the course of the game, and, as a result, I may or may not have choked back some real emotion after the final battle. I think the real question is: What happens after Mass Effect 3? BioWare has said that the Mass Effect story will end with the conclusion of the trilogy. What then? Will we get more stories within that universe? I sure hope so, because I fell in love with BioWare's vision of this world with the first game and absolutely can't wait to get my hands on Mass Effect 2 next week.

Mass Effect 2 will release for the PC and Xbox 360 in North America on January 26th, in Australia on January 28th, and finally Europe on January 29th.
