The rumor mill is turning faster and faster for the potential remake of JRPG classic Chrono Cross. Details have leaked regarding the Chrono Cross remake's potential developer, when it could be announced, and even the return of certain musical talents. However, despite the variety of leaked information about the Chrono Cross, some still find it hard to believe in the remake's existence. A new leak may change that, as there appears to be a Chrono Cross crossover event planned for mobile game Another Eden.

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space is a free-to-play mobile RPG, though its recently been ported to PC and is planned for the Nintendo Switch, too. Like many free-to-play mobile RPGs, Another Eden is a gacha game, meaning players rely on randomized rolls to acquire characters that they'll use in-game. That's where the Chrono Cross crossover comes in. The leaked data hints that an upcoming event will allow Another Eden players to acquire Chrono Cross characters.

The leak, first shared in the Reddit community for Another Eden, says that the crossover material found in the game's files is robust. It's enough to make clear this isn't an accident or fragments of a canceled event. There are scripts said to mention the release of Chrono Cross characters including Serge, Kid, Harle, and even Chrono Trigger's Lucca. Another Eden will also receive additional story content for the Chrono Cross collaboration.

As for why Chrono Cross would cross over with Another Eden, the mobile game was written and directed by Masato Kato. Kato is, of course, wrote Chrono Trigger and directed/wrote Chrono Cross. Despite that, in order for Another Eden to have a Chrono Cross crossover it would require the approval of Square Enix. Therein lies the connection leading some to consider this evidence of the Chrono Cross remake being a reality.

The long and short of it is that a Chrono Cross and Another Eden collaboration means Square Enix and Masato Kato are working together again. Specifically, they're working together on something tied to Chrono Cross. Kato's involvement wouldn't be required for Square Enix to remake Chrono Cross, but that they are potentially connected again does imply there's something more going on.

If the Chrono Cross remake is real, then it doesn't seem like fans will have to wait long to find out more. The rumor is that the remake will be announced in December as part of a PlayStation event. It's still an odd situation, making a Chrono Cross remake before a Chrono Trigger remake, but it does seem to have some basis in truth.

Chrono Coss is rumored to be in development for multiple platforms.
