Many of hardcore comic book fans want to see Thor return, but recent comments from Chris Hemsworth suggest he is ready to close the book on the God of Thunder should he ever return in a new Marvel Studios project.

Hemsworth has played Thor since the character's first solo film in Phase 1. The film spawned three more sequels and multiple cameos and increased the character’s popularity to an all-time high. With many of the other Avengers hanging up their jerseys, it looks like Thor might be next, especially considering Hemsworth recently discovered he has a high risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. The actor still has a small list of films that will be released, including the highly anticipated Extraction 2.

While it's clear that the mainline Thor films might be finished, Hemsworth told Vanity Fair that should he return, it would probably be best to conclude his time as Thor afterward. "I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean? I feel like it probably warrants that. I feel like it’d probably be the finale, but that’s not based on anything anyone’s told me or any sort of plans," Hemsworth said. "You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don’t know... am I at that stage? Who knows?"

A little while ago on Good Morning America, Hemsworth seemed a little more optimistic about returning to the Thor role, but even he was still considering the idea of hanging up the cape. “Uh, I don’t know. I’m sort of… finished my run for the time being, but never say never. I love playing the character," he said. "My daughter, the other day, was saying, ‘No, no, Dad, you’ve gotta do it. People love seeing you play Thor.’ And so, who knows?”

Many can understand why Hemsworth has chosen to spend time with his family. The life of an actor is not easy when it comes to free time. Many actors have trouble finding balance due to the gruelling filming schedules that come with multiple projects and travelling around the world.

Andrew Garfield recently is taking a break very soon. Hemsworth deserves some time off considering the long list of films he has been a part of.
