Charlie Cox talked about the possibility of returning to the character of Daredevil in any future Marvel project. Daredevil, for those who don't know, is a costumed human crime-fighter with supersonic senses and one of the best martial artists in the Marvel universe.

Cox played Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) live-action Netflix series Daredevil, which took place in New York City and followed the costumed hero as he fought in Hell's Kitchen while facing off against characters like Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin, Elektra, the Punisher, and even the Hand. Daredevil was very well received by fans, critics, and newcomers alike.

During his interview with SiriusXM, Cox explained the 'double-edge sword' of returning to the Daredevil role. As many may know, after the very successful season 3 of Netflix's Daredevil (which was its best-rated season) the show was canceled by Netflix and not brought back for an upcoming season. This angered fans and left a void for many who enjoyed the darker/gritty Marvel superhero stories. Cox made a good point in saying that the show managed to leave off on a high note and if the character were to ever return, it always runs the risk of not living up to expectations.

Cox went on to say, “You’ve got to be careful what you wish for... You come back and it’s not as good or it doesn’t quite work or it’s too much time has passed. It doesn’t quite come together in the same way. You don’t want to taint what you’ve already got." This point is very compelling, as there are many times where films get a reboot or sequel many years after the original that doesn't quite hold up (Halloween sequels come to mind for some). Cox further concluded, "If we never come back, you’ve got these three great seasons and our third season was our best-reviewed. So, the trajectory was up. I am tremendously proud and grateful for what we have.”

The main ongoing rumor is that Cox's Daredevil appears in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Peter Parker's lawyer in order to protect his identity. This falls in line with what happens in the comic books, where Matt Murdock is the lawyer of Peter Parker in order to keep his identity a secret. As of now, there's no confirmation as to whether or not this will actually happen, so fans will just have to wait until December to find out.

It's hard to say what the right thing to do is. If Daredevil returns in a cameo moving forward, there isn't much room for something like that to ruin the three-season run that the character had. As long as they remain true to the character, then nothing bad should happen that would detract from what the show did. Here's hoping this isn't the last fans have seen of the famous crime fighter.

Daredevil is now available on Netflix.
