Speaking with investors, Capcom reps reveal that the company 'will consider' developing for the highly anticipated Nintendo NX console and the PlayStation VR.

While Nintendo is currently focusing its efforts on the 3DS and the WiiU, fans are chomping at the bit for information on their mysterious next console, currently code named the Nintendo NX. While nothing concrete has been established on the system, rumors abound about what gamers might expect. Some say it will utilize a digital-only approach, while others say that the console will change the face of gaming as we know it.

For those looking for something a little more tech-y, Sony’s highly anticipated VR system is also on the horizon. Previously known under the codename Project Morpheus, Sony's VR headset will bring Oculus-style gaming to the console scene. While fans are left wondering what to expect from these devices, legendary developer Capcom has made it known that it may be considering developing titles for both.

While the company wouldn’t speak in definitive terms, a recent investor meeting revealed that the game maker “will consider” developing titles for both the NX and the PlayStation VR. Speaking with concerned investors, a Capcom rep stated:

“Our R&D operations are working on technologies for many types of hardware. We will consider the possibility of creating technology demonstrations and making versions of titles under development for these new platforms.”

When investors pressed on a timetable for when Capcom might release titles for the NX and PS VR, the Capcom representative went on to say:

“At this time, we have not announced any plans for specific products or the timing of a product launch.”

The companies reference to “working on technologies for many types of hardware” would suggest that Capcom now has their hands on software development kits for these next-gen devices. This lines up with prior reports, with insiders stating that Nintendo has begun to send company’s developer kits for the new system. While Sony has not confirmed if developers are currently creating content for the PS VR, it stands to reason that Capcom, one of the largest third party game publishers in the world, might be working on a title for the device.

While Capcom, Nintendo, and Sony are remaining mum on just what the future holds, this statement suggests that work is likely underway on the forthcoming devices. With Capcom hard at work on Street Fighter V and HD remakes of popular titles, the company certainly has its hands full, but it wouldn’t be entirely surprising to learn that the Japanese developer is looking to get titles out for the devices.

Until Capcom makes an official announcement, gamers are left to wildly speculate as to just what the House that Mega Man built has planned for the future.
