Fan films inspired by some of gamers' favorite franchises are a dime a dozen, but ones that are done well are hard to come by. For today's GR Pick we have such a film — part of a web series, in fact — that is based around the Call of Duty franchise. Honestly, if making a fan film why not go for one of the most lucrative franchises around?

However, what makes this particular fan film unique is its choice of inspiration. Rather than use the always-at-11 military shooter experience of Call of Duty as the basis for a short video — we've seen that before — this one uses Treyarch's Zombies mode to tell a unique story.

The web series comes courtesy of Jason Rosete Films, who have a wide variety of video game-inspired videos in their repertoire. Past videos found on their official site include ones inspired by Battlefield, Modern Warfare, and Resident Evil.

As of right now there are only two episodes from the web series available (featured above and below), but if they're any indication of what is in store we're excited to see more. To be fair the first episode is light on action, but the second episode more than makes up for it.

Stylistically speaking the web series is of a quality that is rare to find online, save for maybe the heavy use of lens flares. Of particular note are the CG touches in the zombie eyes, which make them look like the undead featured in Treyarch's Call of Duty titles.

It's going to be a great next few days for Call of Duty fans as Treyarch is gearing up for the release of 'Revolution,' the first DLC map pack for Black Ops 2. As luck would have it the map pack also includes a new Zombies map and mode for fans of that mode to play around with.

What do you think of this Call of Duty Zombies web series? Would you like to see more from them?
