Call of Duty: Warzone is set to kick off Season 1 later this week, and it will bring with it some massive changes to the popular battle royale. The biggest change is the introduction of the new Pacific map Caldera, which will be completely replacing Verdansk. Call of Duty: Warzone players are running out of time to play on Verdansk, and now Activision has confirmed the exact date and time Verdansk is leaving the BR.

The Call of Duty: Warzone Verdansk map will leave on Tuesday, December 7 at 9pm PT. Call of Duty: Warzone players will be able to hop on and check out the Last Hours of Verdansk limited-time mode tomorrow and get some exclusive rewards in the process. How exactly the Last Hours of Verdansk will play out remains to be seen, but Activision has said that Call of Duty: Warzone players will need to hide in bunkers as they will be the only "safe haven" for whatever is in store.

After 9pm PT, Verdansk will be removed from the game and the Call of Duty: Warzone servers will be taken offline. At that point, Activision will issue the Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 update that will officially integrate the game with the recently released Call of Duty: Vanguard. Then at 9am PT on Wednesday, December 8, Call of Duty: Vanguard owners can boot up Warzone and play the new Pacific map Caldera. Everyone else will get access 24 hours later.

Replacing Verdansk with Caldera is a risky move, but it's sure to bring Call of Duty: Warzone a lot of attention. The addition of a brand new map has the potential to bring in new players as well as lapsed players who have since moved on to other games. However, Caldera isn't the only thing new coming to Call of Duty: Warzone this week. In fact, the new Call of Duty: Warzone map will bring with it some other major changes to the game.

Namely, Call of Duty: Warzone loadouts are getting changed with the Season 1 update so that players have to wait for the first free loadout drops before they can buy one for their team. This change should shake up the early moments of any given Call of Duty: Warzone match quite dramatically. Besides loadouts, the Call of Duty: Warzone Gulag is also changing with the Season 1 update so that when players win their fight and respawn, they get to keep the weapons they were using in the Gulag.

There is some skepticism about the Call of Duty: Warzone changes coming with the Pacific map, but it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
