Since it launched in 2020, Call of Duty: Warzone has been not only extremely popular but also a major source of revenue for Activision. Still, over the past year and a half, the free to play game hasn't always been a smooth experience, frequently being impacted by weird visual glitches and bugs. Some bugs, like one that prevented the Payload from moving during Warzone's limited time event, have proven to be game breaking and required Raven to shift priorities around.

However, for most players, the biggest issue currently impacting Call of Duty: Warzone is cheating. Being free to play, hackers using various cheats like auto-aim or wallhacking, have been plaguing the experience almost unchecked. While accounts continued to be banned, the hacking issue only seems to be increasing, with certain hacker groups and sites even trolling the main Warzone account on Twitter. However, the tide may be starting to turn after this latest update.

As initially noticed by CharlieIntel, the killfeed inside of Call of Duty: Warzone has received a noticeable update. Similar to other games like Battlefield 1, the killfeed now displays users that were banned during a match. As the image shows, the players username is listed followed by the phrase "has been banned." The news has been met with applause by the majority of players, though many continue to make jokes regarding players simply creating a new account or that the game should now be updated with a true anti-cheat system.

While the news has been met with praise from players, many are hopeful that this is just the start of things to come. While seeing a known cheater banned live during a match is no doubt satisfying, there's the issue of how these players were allowed in at all. Thankfully, it appears Raven has also been working behind the scenes to improve the much maligned anti-cheat systems as well to prevent those players from simply creating a new account to start impacting matches all over again.

Over the past week, Raven announced that another 50,000 accounts have been recently banned. While the number is a drop in the bucket compared to how large the overall player actually is, Raven Software also revealed that new improvements are being made to the anti-cheat system and that more information would be revealed soon. Any news would likely be hugely beneficial from a community perspective as Warzone is currently embroiled in negativity surrounding Season 5 and the amount of content that was added to the game. With other FPS games approaching launch, Call of Duty could be seeing some strong competition.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
