Publisher Activision releases an official extended gameplay video covering one of the missions in the forthcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.

The first extended gameplay video from Raven Software's take on Infinity Ward's shooter with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered has made its way online, and it revisits one of the original's most familiar single player campaign expeditions with the Crew Expendable mission. As is to be expected, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered offers loads of refinements and touch-ups to the game, including, but not limited to new lighting and animations, updated textures, a smoother frame rate, crisper sound, and much more.

As seen in the video below, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered's take on Crew Expendable—a mission so memorable it was used for the game's campaign preview at E3 2016—provides fans of the original with all of the level's familiar trappings, as Soap and his squad commandeer a ship at sea with lethal force. For those who haven't experienced the stage, though, they would do well to watch the footage below, as it shows off the level in full with roughly seven minutes of gameplay.

On top of the Crew Expendable mission and the rest of the single-player campaign, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is also set to include an updated version of 10 maps from original game's multiplayer. However, one downside—or upside if fans were planning on purchasing it anyway—is that Raven Software's Modern Warfare Remastered will not be sold separately from Infinite Warfare.

With that being the case, gamers who wish to get their hands on the updated version of the Modern Warfare title will have to purchase either Infinite Warfare's Legacy Edition, Legacy Pro Edition, or its Digital Deluxe Edition. As it happens, some fans of the franchise are of the opinion that Activision is botching its release by forcing players to buy the newest entry in the series just to get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.

Considering all that's been shown off thus far, it seems as if Raven Software has adhered to the stern message from a former dev for Call of Duty—the founder of Respawn Entertainment, Vince Zampella, that is—and is doing its best to not taint the original. Nevertheless, it's important to note that until fans can actually play the remastered title to really get a feel for its controls and environments, all of the videos and gameplay clips could just be empty window dressing. Hopefully, though, fans are treated to a solid showing for Modern Warfare Remastered's multiplayer preview in September at this year's Call of Duty XP event and get an even better idea of what the final product will contain.

What did you think about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered's full playthrough of the Crew Expendable mission? Did it include everything you wanted, or was it off the mark in more ways than one? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is packaged with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's special editions, which are set to launch on November 4, 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
