The next Call of Duty game's announcement may be quickly approaching going off online buzz surrounding the franchise. Most persuasive is the news that several notable NFL and college football players were invited to a sponsored playtest for the unannounced Call of Duty game. Additionally, a supposedly leaked animation of Modern Warfare 4's logo is now spreading online, though it seems to be faked. Nevertheless, the growing hype could point to a forthcoming announcement.

Speculation began early Tuesday after several athletes began posting photos from a sponsored event for the next Call of Duty. College football and NFL stars including Tajae Sharpe, Jacques Patrick, Riley Ridley, and N'Keal Henry took to Instagram and Twitter with the advertisement hashtag #callofdutypartner featuring photos from the event. While the photos featured the Call of Duty logo in them, the subtitle is notably kept secret.

Tuesday afternoon saw the spread of an animation featuring an "MW4" logo, implied to be a clip of an unreleased announcement trailer. Sadly, the clip was shown to feature footage taken from a Call of Duty: Ghosts trailer, making it likely to be a faked leak. Nevertheless, stranger things have happened.

Despite what appears to be a fake leak, speculation about the forthcoming 2019 Call of Duty game continues to point towards a Modern Warfare 4 release. Rumors and speculation so far include that Modern Warfare 4 will feature a single-player campaign, that the campaign will be a remaster of Modern Warfare 2's story, that it won't feature either a zombies or battle royale mode, but it will be Infinity Ward's most ambitious Call of Duty project yet.

Without question, there is a new Call of Duty title is in development for release in late 2019, but whether it is Modern Warfare 4 is up for debate. The good news is, given Activision's track record, there should be an announcement within next month. Historically, new Call of Duty games are announced in late April or May.

Call of Duty 2019 has yet to be officially announced and so has no confirmed release window or supported platforms.
