‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ Retail Discs Stolen, Close to Leaking Online

Call of Duty Black Ops Retail Discs Stolen

Retail discs for Call of Duty: Black Ops have been stolen from a printing press and the purveyor is threatening to leak them onto the internet. Treyarch is currently pursuing shutting down anyone involved so be warned if you go looking.

The crime in question occurred by way of a thief gaining access to a pressing plant in Alabama and snagging a handful of discs. From there the person sold his discs to various individuals, one of which happens to be a member of some prominent hacking forums. Treyarch’s community manager Josh Olin, got wind of this forum posting, hopped online, and attempted to get in contact with any of those in possession of the game. To no avail, he went on Twitter in order to pursue contacting the person in question directly but, at this time, he has been unsuccessful. Currently there is no word as to how Treyarch or Activision are going to be moving forward with addressing this crime, but I would expect the authorities are already involved.

The anticipation for Black Ops is extremely high, especially after all of the great trailers we have been shown, but my anticipation is only second to my need to experience the game in a pure guilt-free setting. Knowing that my copy of the game was obtained using illegal means would only cheapen the playthrough. There are plenty of gamers out there who were just waiting for this game to leak and have no qualms about dishing a little jab at Activision, but I implore those who have the inkling to simply wait a couple weeks. It will be worth more than the headache.

What are your thoughts on the Call of Duty: Black Ops leak? Just how much trouble has this guy gotten himself into?

Call of Duty: Black Ops is set for actual release November 9th on the PS3, PC, Xbox 360, and Wii.

  1. I’m surprised nothing has been spoiled yet about the Zombies mode. That sucks that discs were stolen though… bring on the prison time!

    • BRING ON THE DEATH SENTENCE!

      • I hope Treyarch sends in the S.O.G, to sentence them to death,by firing squad! True men don’t buy pirated games. If you did, you suck… and I hate you :)

  2. Yeah games or not, this is breaking and entering and theft. Shame that the wait for this game had to be tainted with theft, but I’m sure it will only be a matter of time before this guy is caught and made an example of.

  3. I wonder if the leak would delay the release of the game …?

    • 0_0 If it does, this guy’s house will get toilet papered a millions of times by COD fans everywhere, not to mention Treyarch and Activision workers.

      • Toilet papered, seriously? What are we 12.

  4. yea not worth it bro just wait 3 weeks, lol some one is willing to go to jail just to play COD weeks before everyone else. I bet this is allready solved u know infinity ward is on this like a fatman on cake. I woulnt be suprised if the FBI is on the case. and a question is that $250,000 fine for copying movies the same as games?

  5. Was on 360iso last night while he was posting pics of the game BLack ops, he was playing single player, showed a bit of zombies, obviously showing that he has the game. He bought the game for 600 i think.

  6. I suspect that Activision is ready to aggressively protect its investment in Call of Duty: Black Ops. Leaking games is not cool. Neither is downloading leaked games.

  7. Well that guy/girl is going to be without a job, but at least they may gain a lawsuit out of the whole ordeal :|

  8. Delay the release? Never. Nearly every game released is released early onto that forum. I’m a member there. The man who has this game has updated everyone saying he is being tracked by authorities and is hoping to upload the game and get rid of it before he gets caught.

  9. Lol, its like the blog version of “Cops”… Hopefully he gets caught though. Never been a fan of call of duty but things like these are the reason that companies like ubisoft are going DRM crazy…hopefully other companies don’t follow in the same footsteps.

  10. how in the world was someone on last night playin this… dang i cant wait to play in three weeks

  11. This just like what happened to valve with half life 2 but more diffrent as this dosent involve hackers

  12. It is absolutely VITAL that Treyarch cuts no corners when it comes to sniffing this guy out and punishing him significantly, and making sure the gaming community knows what they do to punish him. If this act goes unpunished, everybody and their best friend will begin attempting to steal games that haven’t been released, and this will become a permanent problem in the future of gaming. On the riper side of the rotten tomato, if they crush this guy and all of the closely involved associates(not the buyers of the stolen discs because in reality they’re just being opportunistic and simply just bought a product on the internet) they can set a precedent that tells potential thiefs, “do this and we are going to screw you over royally!” Then this problem could be nipped at the bud. YES ON PROP 19!!!

    • Excuse me, Infinity Ward pretty much signed their own death warrant with MW2. That nearly burned my CoD temple to the ground…

      • Ignore this.

    • Perhaps you are a buyer and wish to not be prosecuted for your crime?

  13. “The anticipation for Black Ops is extremely high, especially after all of the great trailers we have been shown, but my anticipation is only second to my need to experience the game in a pure guilt-free setting.”

Well, wouldn’t it be nice if Activision were able to publish these games in a guilt-free setting, without trying to screw over Infinity Ward and the gaming consumer?

    • Excuse me, Infinity Ward pretty much signed their own death warrant with MW2. That nearly burned my CoD temple to the ground…

They are the ones who screwed the consumer.

You should get your story straight.

  14. wow i cant believe theyre stealing this just to spoil some stuff. well there arent anything ive heard yet which is good but that means those who show it on the net mean that they are the thieves who are desperate to get their hands on the game. i just feel like this game is going to be very addictive for a year or so…

  15. The same thing happen to Modern Warfare 2, the game was on the Internet 2 weeks before the releasing date.

  16. I really hope that these discs wont lead to “hacking” the whole mainframe or multiplayer. If so, Black ops will be more fed up then Mw2 will ever be :(

  17. I’ve noticed this is always an Xbox problem… I hope Activision pulls their contract with Microsoft over this mess. Kiss your month earlier DLC goodbye boys, Sony is gonna take it from us.

  18. I think that this is complete bullcrap. Why the hell would someone take copies of the game and leak them? Just think of the consequences. I’ll bet Treyarch and Activision will delay the game release until the copies are found… If they do, whoever started this is getting beaten with a pillowcase full of soap. And possibly a cricket bat.

    • I will help, and I’ll bring my morning star.

  19. there is nothing to worry about… Cpt. Price will take care of this guy

  20. well… since Cpt. Price is dead i don’t think he did a good job lol
