Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is an extremely widely played video game, with thousands of players logging in on a daily basis. While typical of whatever the latest and greatest Call of Duty title is, the Black Ops series in particular is known for its Zombies mode, created by the mode's original developers, Treyarch. The same Treyarch is now beginning to tease its latest map coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is currently in the midst of its Season 5. More specifically, the popular title began its Season 5 Reloaded last week, which should see the release of a slew of content throughout the game's various modes. In terms of Zombies, Outbreak will be adding the Armada region from multiplayer, a new mode for the PlayStation-exclusive Zombies Onslaught, and more.
Although Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 5 still has at least several weeks left to go, the game has already begun teasing its Zombies content for Season 6. Posted on the official Treyarch Twitter account, fans will see a black and white postcard containing the image of a massive structure. Written on the image in red ink is a message from Ravenov addressed to Weaver reading "This is the place. We must make our stand here." Accompanied with the image are a simple pair of hashtags indicating that the tease is for Zombies' Season 6 map.
Fans who have played through Black Ops Cold War's campaign will find the image pretty recognizable. The building shown in the image is the secret Spetsnaz training facility featured in the game's Redlight, Greenlight mission, which is almost certainly the site of the new and final Survival Zombies map. Now, there are multiple factors supporting the theory: with Treyarch releasing a traditional Zombies map every even-numbered season, Season 6 should be the recipient of one. The writing on the note strongly gives a sense of finality as well, and with the incoming Call of Duty: Vanguard in November, Season 6 may well be Black Ops Cold War's final season.
Even though Call of Duty: Vanguard is still months away, Zombies fans are already voicing their opinions on what they want to see included in the game. Suprisingly, Treyarch is returning to helm Vanguard's Zombies mode, despite the bulk of the title being developed by Sledgehammer Games. Fans have been discussing the changes they'd like to see in Outbreak mode, should it return in Vanguard. Many fans are hoping the next incarnation of the mode will incorporate entirely unique locations, rather than lifting areas straight from multiplayer, as well as diversified objectives and more zombies in general.
It should be interesting to see how the Redlight, Greenlight mission location gets converted into a Zombies map, and how the location is incorporated into the ongoing Dark Aether story. Hopefully this final map won't be as buggy as other Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies maps can be.
