Treyarch reveals a new difficulty mode setting within Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 called Realistic which promises to kill the player with only one bullet.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 director Jason Blundell has confirmed in a recent interview that the game will have an all new Realistic difficulty mode for players who want a real challenge during the campaign. The addition should help balance out the ability to call in three other players for support during the campaign and the fact that with a completely unlocked mission structure, players can technically play the last mission first if they want.

The big draw from this mode is that one bullet will do enough damage to completely kill the player. Because of this, Realistic promises to change the typical run and gun playstyle that has developed within the Call of Duty series, forcing players to take their time, stay low, and work together as a group to clear each mission within Call of Duty Black Ops 3.

The same goes for the many new NPC enemy types that have been added to the game as well, which have all been completely rewritten behind the scenes by Treyarch. These new enemies have each received a major intelligence boost in Realistic difficulty, now able to make independent decisions and change tactics on the fly.

You all have to survive as a group. You end up respecting the level in a completely different way, and once gunfire opens up, everyone just drops to the ground, because if any one bullet hits you or a grenade goes off near you, you're dead.

For those curious, completing the campaign on this difficulty setting will earn achievement/trophy hunters, "No One Will Believe You." Unfortunately for last gen owners, this achievement will not be available considering the campaign has been completely scrubbed from that version due to hardware limitations. It's unfortunate that the campaign couldn't have been saved in some form for last gen console players, but Activision should be replacing that achievement with something that is attainable by these group of players.

Ultra hard difficulty modes are becoming all the rage lately, with more and more games offering even greater challenges should players want it. The most recent example is with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection as developer Bluepoint Games added in the new brutal difficulty mode for players to unlock once they get through the already challenging Crushing difficulty. Brutal apparently lives up to its name as Sony revealed the mode even challenged their QA team during development.
