While the Call of Duty franchise has always juggled the realistic with the bombastic and over-the-top, in recent years the series has also taken on a completely new personality. With the advent of features like Riley the Dog and plenty of clever downloadable content, the latest COD entry, Call of Duty: Ghosts, has proven that the billion dollar franchise still has a sense of humor. It started with the addition of Michael Myers to the Onslaught DLC, continued with the Predator crossover for the Devastation DLC, and now things are getting even crazier with the introduction of voice packs.

Although voice packs are nothing new for the Call of Duty franchise, the first two revealed for Call of Duty: Ghosts have been something else. First, there was the reveal of the Snoop Dogg voice pack, which added the dulcet tones of the rapper and media mogul to Ghosts' multiplayer experience, and now the new 'Drill Instructor' voice pack adds a harder edge.

The 'Drill Instructor' pack introduces some urgency into the proceedings in the form of R. Lee Ermey barking out orders left and right. For a closer look at the DLC voice pack, check out the trailer above.

Obviously, there are plenty of voices that could do well as drill instructors, but Infinity Ward and Activision made the smart choice by going with real life drill instructor and actor R. Lee Ermey (Full Metal Jacket, Toy Story). Many might not know Ermey's name, or even his face, but it's hard to mistake his voice.

While the focal point of most Call of Duty releases' DLC schedule is typically the four sets of map packs, Infinity Ward is apparently bolstering that content with a few extra bells and whistles like the Captain Price multiplayer skin. And, as has previously been mentioned, there is a new set of customization items slated to hit Call of Duty: Ghosts on April 22nd that includes the aforementioned Snoop Dogg Voice Pack, this Drill Instructor Voice Pack, a multiplayer skin pack that may include Soap MacTavish, and who knows what else.

The Call of Duty franchise may be struggling to hold gamers' attention as strongly as it once did - despite the series still selling very well - but there is plenty of extra content for loyal players to sink their teeth into. Alongside the new, fun guessing game of what movie monster will join a future DLC pack, we now have another game: what voice will be added to Ghosts next.

What do you think of the 'Drill Instructor' voice pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts? Are there any other iconic voices you think Infinity Ward should add to their game?
