With only a few hours before the second DLC pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts, titled Devastation, is upon us, Activision has taken to beefing up their marketing machine considerably. First, there was confirmation that the Predator will be a special feature in the DLC, and now this latest trailer puts the spotlight on the second episode of the Extinction campaign.

For those that might not know, Ghosts features a unique take on the survival horde mode of COD's past wherein a group of up to four co-op companions test their mettle against waves of invading alien creatures. In essence, this mode - called Extinction - was Ghosts' answer to the Zombies mode from Treyarch's Call of Duty releases. However, with these DLC expansion episodes, Infinity Ward has done themselves one better by adding some story trappings to the proceedings.

While the first episode, Nightfall, appropriately set the stage for Extinction's campaign, it's second episode, titled Mayday, takes things to a new level. We had already seen that things were going to get particularly hairy in Mayday, but now this latest trailer shows just how insurmountable the odds might get in.

Of course, the major selling point of Mayday will be the epic showdown with the final boss, the Kraken. With enemies like the Kraken and many of the other alien types added for Nightfall and Mayday, it appears that Infinity Ward has taken fans' criticisms of the base Extinction mode to heart, and tried to deliver something that is diverse but also exciting.

And, for those gamers who are curious, the Devastation DLC does add a few achievements to Ghosts. Check them out below:

All told, the Devastation DLC looks to be another robust offering for Call of Duty: Ghosts players beyond just the basic map selection. Yes, Devastation does still deliver four new, medium-sized maps for multiplayer fanatics to enjoy, but it also boasts the new Extinction episode, a new weapon, and a Predator crossover. That's a lot more content than gamers were used to seeing from Call of Duty DLC packs.

The DLC should hit the Xbox 360 and Xbox One digital marketplaces sometime in the early hours of Wednesday morning and will retail for the usual $15. Or you can pick up a Season Pass for Ghosts and snag all four packs for the discounted price of $50.
