Borderlands: Claptrap's New Robot Revolution - Propaganda

Gearbox Software has their hands full, what with the newly announced Duke Nukem: Forever finally approaching release. Don’t let that distract you from what will be the final, climactic conclusion to Borderlands though. The ‘Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution‘ DLC pack is priming up for an Sept. 28 release, and judging from these screenshots we’ve received, it’s looking like Gearbox has saved some of their best material for this final package.

Claptrap’s Revolution’s new areas are planned to be much larger than those found in the previous DLC packs, plus there’s increase of the level cap up to 69. So we’ll likely see a greater amount of content in the DLC, but what sort of content should we expect?

GamePro was recently visited by Gearbox and acquired some new details that sound like a lot of fun:

“The story goes something like this: Hyperion Corp., in an effort to rid the land of treasure hunters, creates the Claptrap Ninja Assassin. Claptrap’s around the land turn against Hyperion, and also “Claptrap-ify” many of the indigenous creatures–essentially the creatures now roam the land under the control of the Claptraps, with hilarious vacuum tubes attached to their heads. Aside from the aesthetic changes, the creatures are now more difficult, and often attack in tandem with the Claptrap armies. Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford jokes that the creatures have “caught the clap.” “

Oh ho ho, nothing like jokes about venereal disease to get gamers excited about your game. Gearbox also mentions that we’ll be seeing a number of old bosses who have caught ‘The Clap’, which sounds like a great way to wrap up the game. Bring on the Mega Man-esque style where you fight all of the previous bosses before reaching the true final boss. Sounds like a great trip back through all of the best moments of Borderlands. Will they include some of the DLC bosses? We shall see.

Finally, here are some screenshots that Gearbox provided us, chock full of classy Borderlands humor:

Borderlands: Claptrap's New Robot Revolution - Train

Borderlands: Claptrap's New Robot Revolution - Tinfoil Hat

Borderlands: Claptrap's New Robot Revolution - Claptrap Army

Trains covered in bandits and psychos, vicious Claptraps with title-belts and boxing gloves, or ammo belts and  warpaint, and what’s with that guy in the tinfoil hat? He’s going all Lawnmower Man or something.

Borderlands is a blast playing with friends, but I hate to admit I’ve never even finished the vanilla game. I even purchased most of the DLC since in one of Steam’s epic sales, but the PC multiplayer system makes it way too difficult to jump into a game with friends unless it’s a scheduled event. Despite that, Claptrap Revolution looks like it’d be worth revisiting the game in an effort to reach the level-cap before this DLC lands. You know that Ninja Assassin Claptrap is going to be worth checking out.

Planning on downloading the DLC pack, Ranters? Have you run through the Dr. Ned, Mad Moxie and General Knoxx DLC yet? Can you power-level my soldier for me, so I’m ready for the next DLC?

The Borderlands DLC pack ‘Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution’ is scheduled for an Sept. 28 release for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. You can purchase the package for around $10 in each platform’s respective pricing method. Or, you can purchase the Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition which releases on Oct 12 as well, and includes all of the game’s DLC including Robot Revolution.

  1. i thought the DLC was coming out on the 28th of this month, where as the GoY edition was scheduled for the 12th of october.

it’s a shame how this might be the last DLC for the game, i hope it’s as epic as everyone’s making it out to be :)

    • Let me double check! I referenced one of our older stories, but I might have messed up.

Edit: Thanks jwalka! You were totally right. I was about to send this to Gearbox’ PR too! Saved me. :D

      • heheh no problem boss. while your at it can you check to see when crysis officially comes out, cause most retailers here in australia say its coming out around december, but game sites say Q1 next year (knowing aussie retailers they’re probably haven’t been updated in regards to the games delay)

        • Crysis 2 is confirmed for March of 2011 in the US and Europe, but only “expected” in Australia. Means they are likely planning on releasing in Aus at the same time, but they have to jump through some hoops first before they can confirm it.

          • guess i was right about aussie retailers being kept in the dark :(
it will most likely end up coming out a few days after you guys get it (like reach). probably my most anticipated full retail game that’s coming out within the next 6 months (alongside deus ex).

thanks for the info Rory, greatly appreciate it (cause i can finally get some sleep ;) )

  2. Looooooove Borderlands.
I’m still hammering away at the vanilla myself, but I did pick up the Dr Ned Zombie Island one for later.
Been thinking about getting a Claptrap tatoo, actually.

  3. Getting the GoY edition when it comes out, figure with so much buzz this game deserves a second shot from me.

    • its repetitive at first but once you completely get out of firestone the game really picks up in pace and action.

  4. zombie island and moxxi are both pretty dull but knoxx is fantastic i’m already looking forward to playing through the main game and knoxx with level 69 enemies regardless of how good or bad the new dlc is :) just hope there’s something in this new content to keep the modder’s out but i doubt it

  5. Borderlands it a great game cant wait for this dlc

  6. Has there been any word about new weapons, or changes in the odds of getting pearlescents?

  7. Does anyone know what time the DLC will be released? :o I’ve been waiting all day to play!

  8. i purchased the new dlc but i’m not leveling up from lvl 61 whats the problem

    • Same as me.
I´m in 61 and not leveling up.
      Anything wrong with this DLC???
