Borderlands 3 has officially announced its first DLC event, Bloody Harvest, which will be a free, limited-time event available to all players next month in the spirit of Halloween. It will introduce new Halloween-themed legendaries, character skins, enemies, environments, and a new but familiar boss. Before gaining access to the Bloody Harvest map, however, Borderlands 3 players will be given the task of defeating some haunted enemies.

Haunted enemies are a new type of enemy which will spawn a ghost once defeated. The ghost will then in turn need to be beaten, but they come with a new debuff. Dubbed Terror, this creates a mist that blocks vision and weakens accuracy, handling, and spread. Borderlands 3 players can also earn a shield that utilizes this new Terror debuff, but that's not the only loot available. The Bloody Harvest event will also give players a chance to unlock two new legendaries, as well as a grenade mod based on this event.

Borderlands 3 players will be able to earn access to the Bloody Harvest map by defeating so many ghosts and earning Hecktoplasm, something designed to be given to Maurice, a new character found aboard Sanctuary 3. Doing this will take players to the map, where various new Halloween-themed critters such as Rakk-O-Lanterns are ripe for the slaying.

That's not all, however, as Captain Traunt returns for this DLC. This time around, his name is skeletal Captain Haunt, and he'll have some new powers to use against Vault Hunters. How Borderlands 3 loot will work for him will remains to be seen, but he'll likely be worth the grind.

Finally, these are some smaller cosmetic rewards for partaking in the Borderlands 3 event which include an ECHO device, a weapon trinket, a global weapon skin, and a unique skin for each of the Vault Hunters. Unfortunately, though, BL3 players don't yet know when this event will begin, as Gearbox withheld that specific information. Given the proximity of October, however, it'll likely be revealed soon.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
