BlizzCon 2010 was chock full new information for eager fans, pertaining both to Diablo III and StarCraft 2. While Diablo got its last class reveal and Arena battling, the StarCraft franchise got a new Zerg unit.

In an art panel for StarCraft 2, various artists commented on the art surrounding the popular RTS sequel and as a reward for fans sitting down and listening to them talk, they revealed some unseen concept art. It's important to note that none of the artwork is finalized and was just done on the whims of the artists.

Nearing the end of the video below at 2:26, you'll be in for a treat. As one of the conceptual ideas for the Starcraft 2 expansion, Heart of the Swarm, the Blizzard artists cooked up a Zerg unit that infests a Terran bunker and becomes a living tank.

The rest of the art could promise some very interesting map settings, like the tropical island/rainforest map for instance. I would very much like to see something like that if only because sci-fi alien vs human battles in jungle settings can be cool.

Heart of the Swarm has no release date yet, but there could be a release window within early 2012. That leaves plenty of time, as per usual, for Blizzard to perform some refinements to any new units they might be introducing with the newest expansion, especially if they have a Zerg infiltration unit that takes over Protoss units as well... Imagine all the craziness that can occur with that scenario.

It's also important to note that Blizzard has no intentions to buff the Zerg in 1v1 matches, currently. It could be possible that Zerg might be getting a boost when Heart of the Swarm releases, but that's purely speculative.
