Sony kicks off its Paris Games Week press conference with a new trailer for the Black Ops 3 Zombies map 'The Giant', which brings back some classic characters.

Although Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's co-op campaign is a huge draw for the upcoming title, the game's Zombies mode is also a massive selling point, with Treyarch recently revealing that it's so popular that the developer can't spin it off. The mode's longstanding popularity is also why fans went wild recently when it was announced that Call of Duty: World at War Zombies map Der Riese would live on as 'The Giant'.

In The Giant announcement, Treyarch explained that it would allow Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 players to pick up the story where it left off and that Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo and meddling German scientist Doctor Edward Richtofen would all make a return, giving Zombies fans added gameplay on top of the other, Shadows of Evil Zombies story. Today, The Giant kicked off Sony's Paris Games Week press conference, as the company showed off the brand new trailer, which included plenty of undead shooting and slaying gameplay.

"What happens next is uncertain" warns one of the map's playable characters, with another saying that he fears that "we are meddling with ever darker forces," referring to the yellow-eyed hordes converging on their position. Zombies players will have to plough through the nightmarish enemies simply trying to stay alive and, of course, to get back to their 'normal' lives. With a large zombie horde and savage wolf enemies also trying to stop players in their tracks, the challenge should pose a great challenge.

What is positive, though, is that Black Ops 3's Zombies players will have plenty of weapons at their disposal in order to kill all of those zombies for good. Another feature from Der Riese that returns in The Giant is the pack-a-punch machine, with players able to make use of the "weapon upgrading" option to get some extra firepower. One of the guns players can get from the machine is an electro-bolt firing contraption which lights zombies up with a dazzling bolt of blue.

As for how Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 players gain access to The Giant, the trailer notes that it will be available on day 1, though players will have to purchase the game's season pass or buy the Black Ops 3 Collector's Edition, which famously comes with a working 'Juggernog' fridge.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is set for release on November 16, 2015 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
