Thanks to its unique artistic design and small size, the Nuketown map from Call of Duty: Black Ops remains one of the most celebrated in the series' history. Recently, fans were when a recent update to the Brazilian PSN page leaked the existence of a new version of the map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, called Nuk3town.

With the cat out of the bag, Activision has gone ahead with the official confirmation of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 version of Nuketown, revealing how fans can access it, and which platforms the map will be available on.

The only way to get Nuk3town on day one is to pre-order the PC, PS4, or Xbox One versions of Black Ops 3. While initially only available to those that pre-order, it's highly likely that the map will be made for download as a separate purchase at some point down the road on current gen systems and PC. Even though Black Ops 3 is coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 as well, it looks like those still stuck gaming in last gen are going to be out of luck if they want to visit the new version of Nuketown.

Those that are looking to have the exact same Nuketown experience that they did before should be aware that Nuk3town will look quite different from a visual standpoint. It is based on a futuristic neighborhood, as opposed to one from the 50's, and there will also be changes to accommodate the game's new traversal system. Activision didn't offer specifics as to how much the map will be altered, but chances are we will find out soon enough with a gameplay trailer. In the meantime, check out concept art for Nuk3town below:

Nuk3town in Black Ops 3 marks the third remake of the original Nuketown map that became extremely popular during the heyday of the first Black Ops. Activision cashed in on its popularity in Black Ops 2 on two separate occasions, first by bringing it back as Nuketown 2025, a futuristic but layout-faithful version of the map. Tryarch also featured Nuketown as one of the DLC maps for Zombies in the form of Nuketown Zombies, but there has yet to be any mention of a possible Nuk3town Zombies map for Black Ops 3.

Activision has been pushing hard for Black Ops 3 pre-orders, which is no surprise. Even though the franchise continues to dominate sales charts, the fact remains that each iteration of Call of Duty since Black Ops 2 is seeing less sales.

Considering the pedigree of the Black Ops brand name, Activision is aiming to make it this year's biggest game, and by offering early access to the multiplayer beta as well the Nuk3town map for free on day one, they've given players plenty of incentive to drop cash on the game ahead of its release. Despite some incredibly stiff competition from Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront this November, don't be surprised if Black Ops 3 is the best-selling game of 2015 before is all said and done.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be available starting November 6th for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Those that want the Nuk3town map on day one will have to pre-order the game for PC, PS4, or Xbox One.
