Black Ops 2 Wii U Resume

While a larger portion of Call of Duty's record breaking sales numbers comes from its Xbox 360 iteration, that doesn't stop publisher Activision from putting the series on as many platforms as possible. Just this year, for example, we will not only see the release of Treyarch's Black Ops 2, but the first Call of Duty title for Vita, Black Ops: Declassified.

But there is a new console entering the fold this holiday, and there have been some questions as to whether or not Black Ops 2 will be releasing on that platform as well. We may not have a concrete answer, but it appears as if Treyarch, along with releasing for every other platform under the sun, is preparing for a Wii U release of Black Ops 2.

The new information comes to us by way of a CV that claims an individual was QA testing both the PS3 version and Wii U version of Black Ops 2. Even more exciting than testing Black Ops 2 for Wii U, however, is the fact that part of that dry run was completed in the game's multiplayer space.

Past Nintendo Call of Duty releases have failed to truly deliver the same multiplayer console experience that keeps Call of Duty afloat, but with the expanded network capabilities of the Wii U it seems more likely that multiplayer will get the full treatment.

There has been some talk of Black Ops 2 coming to Wii U in the past, but no major confirmation has come down from either Nintendo or Activision. Given the popularity of the franchise, it's surprising to think that Nintendo wouldn't have preferred to focus on a Black Ops 2 release rather than a Mass Effect 3 port or the Arkham City: Armored Edition.

Nintendo Won't Force Developers to Use All Wii U Controller Functions

The other question to consider is how Black Ops 2 might incorporate Nintendo's touchpad controller. In various previews of the console we've seen it used as everything from an inventory management tool to a second play screen. A HUD and start menu feel like the most appropriate options, but who's to say at this point.

Also, since Black Ops 2 is already slated for a November release, this could be yet another clue that points us towards a release date for the Wii U. Some have been saying October, while others feel a typical November release is more likely. If Black Ops 2 is going to be a launch title for the console, though, the Wii U is going to have to hit store shelves before the 13th of November.

Are you intrigued by the prospect of Black Ops 2 coming to the Wii U? Would playing the game using the touch pad controller provide an advantage or disadvantage?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 releases November 13, 2012 for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and possibly Wii U.
