While a lot of gamers believe that the developers for each subsequent Call of Duty iteration — be it Treyarch or Infinity Ward — simply copy and paste last year's effort, that is obviously not the case. Though Black Ops 2 and Modern Warfare 3 share some intrinsic DNA, both stand out in their own ways.

But, for those who are interested in seeing what goes in to making a title like Black Ops 2, a new documentary is on the way that shows just that. The program, titled The Making of Black Ops 2, premieres tomorrow night on DirecTV's Audience channel, and will presumably provide gamers a closer look at the development process for one of this year's highly anticipated titles.

More than that, though, the show should help gamers see what it's like developing a title that is predestined for greatness. Each year we assume that the previous Call of Duty, in this case Modern Warfare 3, was the best selling game of all time, but somehow the next iteration seems to outdo its predecessor. Once again signs are pointing to Black Ops 2 being the biggest entertainment launch of 2012, but we will just have to see whether that proves to be true.

While most Call of Duty titles tread similar territory, Black Ops 2 marks a major departure for the franchise setting wise. Instead of keeping gamers in the same historical time period as Black Ops 1, Treyarch is jumping forward -- all the way into the future.

Black Ops 2 Making of Doc

Hopefully, in addition to explaining Treyarch's decision to take COD into the future, the documentary will showcase some of the cool future tech that is showcased in Black Ops 2. How Treyarch designed the mechs and the quadrotor UAV, and how much guidance they received from the military.

As well, it would be interesting to hear why Treyarch felt it was time to take the Zombies mode into an open-world setting, and completely reinvent the mode. Multiplayer is always going to be Call of Duty's bread and butter, but for Treyarch the Zombies mode is their most important calling card.

Once again, The Making of Black Ops 2 premieres tomorrow night at 7 PM EST on DirecTV's Audience channel.

Are you ready to for Black Ops 2's release next Tuesday? Will you be tuning in to watch the Black Ops 2 documentary?
