Official ‘Black Ops 2′ Care Package & Hardened Edition Details [Updated]

Aug 28, 2012 by

With the biggest franchise in the history of video games comes some of the biggest collector pieces. For fans of the Call of Duty franchise, seeing special editions of each annualized release isn’t a surprise. While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 didn’t ship with a “Prestige Edition” so Activision could focus on launching Call of Duty Elite with the Hardened Edition, the two previous releases came with some very cool tech.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 featured a Prestige Edition that featured real, working night vision goggles and its successor, Black Ops, had a similar package that included an RC car. For Treyarch’s followup, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, purchasers of the Prestige Edition will get an actual, usable, flying drone.

Sparse details were shared via official channels earlier today, with the Call of Duty Twitter account tweeting an image that teases a zombies version of the fan-favorite Nuketown map that returns with a year 2025 version in Black Ops 2. The official Activision Facebook page meanwhile, shared an image of Treyarch’s Dan Bunting and David Vonderhaar presenting the ”Care Package,” promising new details tomorrow.

You no longer have to wait to find what contents are hidden away in the case however, because leaked images detail exactly what’s coming inside [Update: Activision officially announced the collector's editions].

Here’s whats inside the case:

  1. i wont be wasting my money on that anyway… normal copy with the elite.

  2. The Hardened and Prestige Editions aren’t just leaked anymore, they’re available for pre-order from retailers. The Hardened Edition is $79.99 and the Prestige Edition is $179.99. I’m actually thinking about getting the Hardened Edition because I’m getting the game practically for free (trade-in credit at GameStop), so if I pay $20 I’ll get the game and all that stuff.

  3. I’ll pass.

  4. ◦Nuketown Zombies Bonus Map – Battle hordes of Zombies in this beloved 1960s nuclear neighborhood.

    Only with Hardened edition?

◦Nuketown 2025 Bonus Map – Relive the close quarters chaos of this classic fan-favorite map re-imagined in a 1960s visionary depiction of the “model home of the future.”

Only with Hardened edition? What about pre-order?

    • It’s too late to get the Nuketown 2025 map as a pre-order bonus from GameStop. But Amazon still offers it for the standard edition.

      • Crap, now I’m debating the Hardened Edition. Just $80, might get it since I’m getting far less games than last year. Idk, we’ll see.

        • Nuketown 2025 will inevitably become available as DLC, though. Or you could pre-order the standard edition off Amazon and get Nuketown 2025. But I think I’m going to get the Hardened Edition.

  5. Hmm…To be honest I must say these special editions seem rather cheap. At first glance I would expect that care package to at least be $200..

  6. all you’re really paying for is elite membership in those fancy editions of the game b/c the DLC garbage doesn’t cost activision much and the 2cent toy is made in some sweat shop in asia. i’ll be encouraging everyone to NOT get this load of horse s*** and spend their money on something worth it, you know a game that has quality and quantity in it, like hitman, borderlands 2 or far cry 3.

    • Either I’m blind or you’re smoking your socks because I don’t see an Elite membership listed as a bonus included in any of the special editions.

      • would you consider that good or bad :P

        • You smoking your socks? Or no Elite membership? I don’t really care about Elite, but smoking your socks is pretty bad. ;)

    • agreed

  7. im already pre ordering the care package just accept the game anyway u get it and wait till u can get nuketown. it doesnt matter its the same eithher way

  8. any one who even thinks about bying this game is wasting there money

  9. Pretty rad…got a few cool airsoft guns from this game http://www.airsplat.com/airsoft-video-games.htm and its a lot of fuN!
