Thanks to HBO Max, the world of the DC Extended Universe is expanding. Recently, the streaming site announced that it would bring Jurnee Smollett's Black Canary back to the screen in a movie. That comes on the heels of a Batgirl movie, as well as projects in development for Constantine, Zatanna, and Blue Beetle.

Though Black Canary appeared in Birds Of Prey: Harley Quinn, since her movie is so early in the development stages, it’s not certain that she’ll be reuniting with any of her Birds Of Prey co-stars. Fans are, however, interested in seeing her share the screen with some of the comic book characters that were a major part of her story. One of those characters is the Green Arrow aka Oliver Queen. The character was the centerpiece of the CW’s superhero lineup but has yet to appear in the DCEU. While he doesn’t need to play a large role in Black Canary’s movie, plenty of fans are hoping for at least a cameo to tease future appearances from the character.

Liam Hemsworth

Liam Hemsworth as Gale in the grass in The Hunger Games

In 2019, rumors persisted that Chris Hemsworth could be up for the role of Oliver Queen in the DCEU. A different Hemsworth brother might be a good pick though since he’s still playing Thor for the MCU for at least one more movie.

Liam Hemsworth has quite a bit of experience in smaller roles, and in teen dramas, and that could very much lead to him getting stuck in specific types of movies. His role in The Hunger Games franchise, however, demonstrates that he can be both the earnest hero and the jaded fighter as the situation calls for it. He might not have had a ton of chances to show his hand-to-hand combat skills there, but his brief fight scenes and choreographed coordinated attacks in the later movies in the franchise show that he does have the aptitude for it. He would definitely be able to take on the role for later installments.

Michael B. Jordan

He’s already proven himself as a fighter in the Rocky franchise and a villain in the MCU. Michael B. Jordan even has an attachment to the DCEU as he’s set as the producer for the upcoming Superman film centered on a person of color in the leading role. It’s not, however, clear if he’ll be working on the movie in an acting role though.

If not, there’s room for him to play another character in the DCEU. Oliver Queen’s story as a young man growing up in a wealthy family isn’t all that different from Batman’s. Changing just one aspect of his story - making him a person of color - could allow writers to change up his story for the DCEU and make it more relevant for audiences today. Jordan is a versatile performer who could definitely handle whatever was thrown at him.

Alan Ritchson

Alan Ritchson as Hank in Titans

Currently appearing in Titans on HBO Max as Hawk, Ritchson might actually bear the most resemblance to the comic book depictions of Oliver Queen - if he grew a goatee. Ritchson has appeared in his fair share of comic book properties already. In addition to his role as Hawk, he’s also portrayed Aquaman on Smallville.

Those roles have been in a supporting capacity, but they certainly showcase his physicality and his charm. With both of those roles existing in other DC universes, there would definitely be room for him to appear as Oliver Queen in the DCEU. Like all of the other actors here, he might just have to take some archery lessons first.

Sinqua Walls

Sinqua Walls in Resort To Love

For genre television fans, Sinqua Walls will likely always be ill-fated werewolf Vernon Boyd in MTV’s Teen Wolf. The series primed his character for a big story arc before dropping him as the show went in a new direction, but Walls has continued to make a name for himself with recurring roles in other genre series like Once Upon A Time.

Most recently, he let fans see how charming he can be in the romantic comedy Resort To Love for Netflix. That charm, combined with the ease with which he handled action sequences in Teen Wolf, would make him a great fit for Oliver Queen as he found his footing as a vigilante. If he got an origin story not unlike Stephen Amell's turn as the hero for Arrow, Walls would be a pretty perfect fit.

Luke Mitchell

Like Sinqua Walls, Luke Mitchell is primarily known to television fans. He’s been in a slew of projects that place him in action roles as both a hero and a villain. From The Tomorrow People to Agents of SHIELD to Blindspot, he’s shown his proficiency in working with special effects and hand-to-hand combat scenes.

Most recently, he’s appearing in the CW drama The Republic Of Sarah as a

corporate lawyer dealing with the traumas of his past when he returns to his hometown and has to go up against his sister’s fight to stop a land development. Mitchell’s roles have shown that he’s not just playing the hero, but that there’s always more going on under the surface for his characters. He could bring a real depth to Oliver Queen.
