Irrational Games’ latest title was not absent from this year’s E3. BioShock: Infinite was in attendance, if maybe overshadowed by the numerous other AAA titles that were also on display. Luckily, there are some new screenshots and a trailer to sink your teeth into.
Not a lot of details have been made available for BioShock: Infinite, but those few that have are still very enticing, including the preliminary gameplay footage and details on a new gameplay mechanic. Needless to say, even without an overwhelming amount of information, Infinite evokes new themes in the BioShock universe, including the rescue/protection of your new companion, Elizabeth.
This latest trailer shows a portion of the game that depicts hero Booker DeWitt and damsel in distress Elizabeth as they get up to wild and crazy things trying to escape Columbia. Throughout, you will get a taste of combat, the Sky Hooks, and all the things that will be trying to kill you. It’s short, but very sweet, and sure enough to kindle all kinds of desire to play the game.
Sky Hooks, they make for fast and dangerous travel. Sure does look fun, though. BioShock Infinite’s E3 offerings arent limited to just a teaser trailer, though. Screenshots depicting the world of Columbia and its inhabitants have also been made available, and we have collected them for your perusal below.
The art style of BioShock: Infinite should certainly earn the merit of anyone, not just fans of the series. The art deco style is still present, albeit in a new environment. The darker color scheme of the first two games has been traded in for beautiful, brighter colors. Definitely notable are Elizabeth’s big, bright blue eyes. They signal vulnerability and give the player more of an incentive to want to protect her on a primal level. Richly detailed, the world of Columbia will be fun to destroy with various plasmids, and we can’t wait.
