BioShock Infinite DLC Reveal in July

Earlier this week, Irrational Games' Ken Levine provided an update on the highly anticipated BioShock Infinite DLC saying, "Game development takes time." In other words, he wanted to assure fans, especially Season Pass owners, that the DLC is coming.

Now, it appears we might have a reveal date for the BioShock Infinite DLC — not a release date, mind you, just a date when Irrational might show the expansion content off. Unfortunately, it's still a full month away.

According to several publications with unnamed sources (a.k.a. take this with a grain of salt), Irrational Games plans to show off their BioShock Infinite DLC at the end of July. That could be either through a preview event or trailer — the news story itself is pretty thin.

Clearly, Irrational Games wants to respond to gamers' concerns by providing proof that a tangible product is on its way. Not only that, they surely want to give us some clue as to what the DLC might entail.

We've been almost completely in the dark regarding additional BioShock Infinite content, with the closest thing resembling a rumor coming about two months ago. That rumor suggested Irrational was introducing a new A.I. companion, and got enthusiastic fans speculating that the DLC might drop Booker and Elizabeth and tell a self-contained story. (Think BioShock 2: Minerva's Den).

Honestly, there's so much in BioShock Infinite's narrative that isn't fully explained or is only briefly touched upon that it's hard to imagine where Irrational might choose to take players. Some felt that the Songbird didn't fully get his due in the main campaign, so perhaps Irrational could provide some insight into that character's inception.

It's also unclear whether the planned three pieces of DLC will be independent storylines or one cohesive experience. Dishonored is trying a more focused route with its DLC by using two DLC expansions to tell a single story.

For a game that has seen its fair share of delays, but eventually proved that a little extra time in the oven is well worth it, we'd suspect gamers are willing to wait. They've put enough faith into Ken Levine and his team at Irrational so far.

What would you like to see from BioShock Infinite's DLC? If they unveil it in July when do you think the DLC might release?

BioShock Infinite is out now for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
