New PS3 PC Skyrim Content

To say that Bethesda dropped the ball on the PS3 version of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim would be putting it mildly. After providing gamers with a solid base in terms of a sprawling single player campaign and plenty of side quests to explore, Bethesda failed to bolster PS3 gamers' experience with any of the expansions they had been promised.

Days, weeks, and months went by without so much as a peep from Bethesda regarding when gamers might see Dawnguard, or at this point even Hearthfire, on their console, and many began to give up hope altogether. And now comes word of another Skyrim expansion, Dragonborn, which promises to be the most exciting yet (dragon riding!).

Yes, PS3 players still feel cheated in a way, and can't help but wonder if anything good will ever come their way, but Bethesda continues to promise new content is coming. And as it turns out, Bethesda might be ready to roll out some new PS3 (and PC) content for Skyrim very soon.

Over on Bethesda's official Twitter account the developers have teased they are "close on new Skyrim content for PS3 and PC." What exactly that means is hard to decipher, but considering Dawnguard and Hearthfire have already launched on the PC, we can't imagine it is either of those expansions.

To update: we’re also close on new Skyrim content for PS3 and PC.

More likely, Bethesda is introducing some features discovered by the mod community or created by Bethesda in-house that improve the experience of Skyrim, or at the very least introduce some new side quests. Many PS3 owners, unfortunately, aren't finding solace in the tweet, but are instead frustrated by the vague nature of the details.

After providing concrete previews of content — in the form of trailers and screenshots — to say "content" is "close" doesn't inspire much in the way of confidence. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of Skyrim players out there who are still looking forward to each and every update no matter how insignificant it might seem. And, of course, there's Dragonborn.

What type of "content" would you like to see Bethesda introduce into Skyrim? Does a focus on PS3 and PC gamers sound like a peace offering to you?
