Brace yourself Elder Scrolls fans, Bethesda owner Zenimax Media has filed a trademark for ‘Dawnguard’ and it is definitely something video game or DLC related. The most important thing revealed by the trademark is that it is intended for downloadable computer game software, meaning that Dawnguard has a very real possibility of being the first DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
It’s been nearly 4 months since the release of Skyrim, and though fans just got a major uptick in the form of the game’s mod tools being released, console owners have been left to wander the world of Skyrim without anything as tantalizing as the game’s main quest lines. Hopefully Dawnguard will be that meaty content fans have been hoping for.
It makes sense that Dawnguard could be DLC for Skyrim, and if it is that would mean a trademark filed for ‘Redguard’ earlier this year could actually be the first piece and Dawnguard would be the second. Or maybe they’re both something completely different.
One of the theories being tossed around over at VG 24/7 suggests that Dawnguard would focus on a storyline given in the town of Dawnstar. And another seems to believe that The Order of the Mythic Dawn from Oblivion will make their way into the world of Skyrim to wreak havoc upon its political system.
Dawnstar was also the name of a title released for mobile phones back in 2004 leading some to believe that Dawnguard would be a new iOS and Android based experience that would extend the world of The Elder Scrolls into the mobile market. Bethesda has already shown a willingness to expand with their Skyrim map app, so maybe this is a more comprehensive and engaging version of that.
A lot of theories are bound to be tossed around between now and when Bethesda officially announces the first piece of DLC for Skyrim, but only when the developer sees fit will gamers really have something tangible to hold on to.

If this is DLC for Skyrim, this might be the answer to why I keep seeing Cyrodil and Hammerfell on the game map.
Sorry but the Cyrodiil or Hammerfell maps have nothing to do with the DLC. They were just put there to fill the “void”. Good thinking though.

Much better to have a finished product rather then some rushed BF3 DLC.
rushed bf3 DLC, are you kiddin me bf3 hardly had any issues same with DLC (minus gun balancing), if anything this PoS game was the rushed product and clearly the low tech one compared to bf3. go back to your glitch infested train wreck instead of embarrassing yourself.

BF3 launched with constant glitches with the menu system not to mention OP usas frag rounds or maybe the hit-detection.

Hmm just by reading some of the rumors, I can easily piece together a vision. Note this is only my theory. But if there is a chance of returning to the planes of Oblivion and the quest is associated with Dawn Star and the Mythic Dawn has returned after being completely obliterated (ironic pun),then the only way for that to happen is to have obtained 1 of the Elder Scrolls and rewrite history. OR somewhere along the lines the cult just reassembled with new members. Other than that i am clueless LOL

The rise of the Snow Elves (Falmer)? Maybe someone found a Drawf and he came out of hiding because of some bigger threat (A hydra would be cool and the town is right next to the water)? Maybe even a rival assassin group who are rivals to the Dark Brotherhood (Located in… you guessed it, Dawnstar)? Throw in some other creatures we haven’t seen in these games, I mentioned a hydra before, how about a doppelganger?
Rival assassin group? You mean the Morag Tong?
Just an idea, if it really is based in Dawnstar it would make sense.
The main thing is that we get new monsters, I think a Hydra would be epic, a doppelganger would throw us for a loop and would be more of a mystery, toss is monsters that we haven’t seen in these games before,
My list, no real order
1 Hydra
2 Griffith
3 Doppleganger
4 Sphinx
5 snake people (not to be confused with argonians)
Something like these, or any other monsters we havent seen before, I vote for Hydra on this list. Imagine fighting something that when you chop off its head it grows two new ones, maybe you have to fight it until a group of mages can cast a spell so you are fighting in a real endurance fight, make sure you have alot of health potions and have them hot keyed. Because maybe the mages take ten minutes to finish the spell and when they finally do, thats when the hydra cannot grow more heads?
If you ask me, that would be VERY hard, but if done right, very fun.
Id like more theives guild missions but more brotherhood missons would be just fine. Another good idea would be more civil war missions I’d like to kill some more thalmar.(storm cloak side)
