Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand DLC Wake Island Trailer

It's December 6th and that means PlayStation 3 users can finally jump into the first expansion to Battlefield 3. Titled Back to Karkand, the Battelfield 3 DLC is more than a simple map pack adding remakes of some of the series' fan-favorite locations, but it's adding new vehicles, weapons and other fun behind-the-scenes stuff.

PS3 users have access to Back to Karkand a full week before PC and Xbox 360 players due to an EA decision to (secretly) drop the Battlefield 1943 exclusive for PS3 buyers, a decision which caused quite a stir of controversy, including a class-action lawsuit againts them for making a false promise to users at E3. The one-week early access was offered as a substitute initially, until EA came around and eventually gave into giving PS3 owners of Battlefield 3 the opportunity to download 1943 as well.

The new battlefields players will be able to wreak destruction across Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Peninsula. While we got an intimate look at Gulf of Oman last week - and the new sweet vehicles it adds - today's trailer focuses on Wake Island, using PS3 gameplay.

Along with the maps and vehicles, Back to Karkand also adds quite a few new weapons along with the appropriate in-game awards.

  • Five new dog tags.
  • Five new achievements/trophies.
  • Three new vehicles (DPV, BTR-90, F-35B STOVL jet fighter).
  • 10 iconic Battlefield weapons.
  • A new persistence system where players complete assignments to earn their rewards.
