Time has passed since the arrival of a younger, rougher Bruce Wayne in Batman: Arkham Origins, but he has yet to tangle with one of his most famous villains. With the upcoming 'Cold, Cold Heart' DLC looking to cool the hot-headed young billionaire vigilante, that's about to change.

The developers had previously hinted that the next story-based DLC would focus on Mr. Freeze, but the new teaser trailer confirms it. Batman may have survived the roster of assassins sent to kill him in Origins, but in the new DLC the chilling supervillain is hitting him much, much closer to home.

Fan enthusiasm may have somewhat cooled since the game's launch, not only due to the fact that the developers are focused on new content instead of fixing glitches, but that the last dose of DLC - the 'Initiation Challenge' - amounted to essentially new maps with some light story surrounding it. The developers claim that won't be the case this time around, and even though Wayne Manor will act as the backdrop for Mr. Freeze's foray into supercrime, story-driven missions will provide the backbone.

Batman Arkham Origins DLC Trailer

Arkham Origins showed that with new villains comes new gadgets, and the same is true for 'Cold, Cold Heart.' Batman's first encounters with Mr. Freeze's henchmen introduce the vigilante to the world of cryogenic weaponry, and aside from adding a chilling device to his growing arsenal (we assume) it also show him a need to upgrade his suit itself. Thus enters the 'XC' (Extreme Conditions) suit, a suit promised to significantly change the basic gameplay. But any looks at the suit (or Mr. Freeze's, for that matter) are being withheld for now.

The DLC goes on sale April 22, 2014 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, although the price has not yet been revealed (although prior Arkham DLC packs have been placed around USD$6.99). Unfortunately, the developers have already confirmed that the expansion won't be coming to Wii U, implying that demand for content was too low to warrant the extra resources.
