‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ Cold, Cold Heart DLC Story Trailer Released

Published 5 months ago by

After several months of hyping up the first story expansion for Batman: Arkham Origins, titled Cold, Cold Heart, Warner Bros. Montreal is finally ready to unleash their DLC on the masses. Cold, Cold Heart has officially made its way to all platforms, except for the Wii U, and Warner has also issued a new story trailer to celebrate.

For those that may not be familiar, Cold, Cold Heart tells the origin story of Victor Fries (a.k.a. Mr. Freeze) and how he came to reside in Gotham City. As the trailer shows, Fries’ quest involves capturing Ferris Boyle, CEO of GothCorp and the man responsible for Fries’ current state.

Unfortunately for Mr. Freeze, there is a puckish rogue in the form of Batman roaming the streets of Gotham, and he’s sporting a brand new XE (Extreme Environment) suit to boot. The XE suit not only gives Batman a significant advantage when facing Mr. Freeze, but it also includes a few new bat-gadgets like the thermocharged batarangs and the thermal gloves — perfect for taking out most of Freeze’s icy obstacles.

Arkham Origins Cold Heart DLC Story Trailer

In addition to the new XE Suit and an entirely new storyline, Cold, Cold Heart also adds two new areas to Batman: Arkham Origins — the Wayne Manor and GothCorp. While gamers have had plenty of time to get acquainted with the Batcave throughout the entire Arkham franchise, this will be their first time to walk the halls of Wayne Manor. That being said, we suspect that, with Freeze roaming around, this iteration of Wayne Manor won’t be without its sub zero quirks.

All told, Cold, Cold Heart appears to be a robust DLC offering, packing new environments, gadgets, enemies, and “hours of content.” Arkham Origins may not have been up to snuff when compared to Rocksteady‘s Batman games, there was one thing the game got absolutely right: the origin story. Here’s hoping Warner Bros. Montreal can achieve a similar feat with a different villain.

Are you excited for the Cold, Cold Heart DLC? What do you hope to see in the Arkham Origins expansion?

  1. Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit of a scam? The new gadgets arent new! The thermal gloves just replace the shock gloves and same for the batarangs. They did the same bloody thing with the “newb glue gadget…its the cryo grenade from the City! Same with the disruptor.

  2. This is not the first trip to Wayne Manor…. Arkham City took us into the Manor

  3. Just finished this and surprisingly enough I didnt Hate it . It was way better than “Harleys Revenge” . A good story, didnt care too much for the new gadget upgrades but Victor is a Beast, once again. Hate or Love Origins… You will like this DLC and ask yourself…. “Why wasnt this included in the campaign ?” Who wants to travel through Wayne Manor? Take the secret entrance to the Bat Cave elevator? Get a new suit? Go face to face with the Ice-man? Go for it!

  4. I just really hate how nothing is ever released for the Wii U. It’s such an underrated system and when i get Batman: Arkham Origins, I get it for the full game, not to be excluded from the online multiplayer experience and not being able to purchase cold cold heart. Sure they made initiation for the Wii U but that was essentially just a bunch of new challenge maps with 5 second cut scenes. I’m surprised they even put Arkham Origins: Blackgate on the Wii U, probably because it was already for the 3DS. But seriously, I don’t see what the big deal is by changing the platform it’s on. Is it going to cost the makers another billion dollars? I just really don’t see why they’re not doing it, especially since they made Arkham Origins originally for the Wii U, they should make the rest of the add-ons available to the players like me who got it for this system. If you’re not going to make everything available, then don’t release the game for the system, DUR

    • I NOW I DO UNDERSTAND YOU :) :) :) :) :) :)
