Although Rocksteady's Arkham line of Gotham games are definitely Batman-focused, one of the fun extras about the series has been the tradition of DLC or unlockable alternate playable characters. Swinging around the city as the Caped Crusader is obviously the game's selling point, but exploring Gotham as Catwoman or Robin is great motivation for comic fans to spend a few extra bucks on the game. As suspected, that trend will continue in 2015's Batman: Arkham Knight will some fresh faces.
Currently the game is rumored to arrive in February of 2015, but an official date hasn't been revealed yet. Of course, that won't stop die-hard fans from getting out there and pre-ordering Arkham Knight anyway. GameStop is taking pre-orders and yesterday the company dropped a cryptic hint about what consumers might be able to expect as a reward for taking their Batman needs to the retailer...

Speculation about the blurry figure's identity ranged from Mass Effect to Assassin's Creed in the comments section (I actually thought it looked like a different hooded comic book character), but a few keen-eyed fans identified the character correctly as Gotham's Red Hood. The violent vigilante's DLC will be available alongside the previously announced Harley Quinn Story Pack as part of GameStop's pre-order rewards.
Polygon spoke to a representative from GameStop who confirmed that the Red Hood Story Pack will be exclusive to GameStop pre-orders. That's not the case with the Harley Quinn pack, which is attached to pre-orders at other retailers, as well.
It hasn't been confirmed yet, but we're hoping the Red Hood pack will eventually go on sale as a regular DLC pack for consumers who pick up the game later or from a different retailer. Players who can't stand the thought of missing out on any content may need to pre-order the game at GameStop and go with the PS4 version so they don't miss that exclusive content either.
A few different iconic Batman characters have been hidden under the Red Hood throughout the years, from the original Joker back in the day to Jason Todd (one of the former Robins) more recently. It seems likely that we'll find Todd under the hood in Arkham Knight, but we'll have to wait and see.
Is the Red Hood DLC enough motivation to get you to pre-order Arkham Knight at GameStop? Let us know in the comments.
