‘Batman: Arkham City’ Alternate Robin Skins Revealed

Batman Arkham City Robin Skins

After Rocksteady Studios made every comic book fan’s dreams come true with Batman: Arkham Asylum, all the sidekicks out there couldn’t help but feel somewhat ignored. But with Batman: Arkham City a newly-redesigned Robin will be on hand, and now we have an idea of that various outfits that players will be able to choose from.

Arkham City won’t be letting players fight their way through the game’s campaign alongside Batman though, as Robin will only be playable in challenge modes. Seeing the ‘Boy Wonder’ re-imagined in the far darker world of Rocksteady’s Batman is a good enough proposition, but those who love a good dose of whimsy have reason to be excited as well.

The previous artwork showed a much older and gruffer Robin than comic book fans may be familiar with, but if nostalgia is what you’re after then the new alternate skins outed online will be welcome news. In addition to the official Robin skin, Arkham City will also include a Batman: The Animated Series skin and a Red Robin costume.

We don’t know if these are the only skins that will ever be coming to the game as pre-orders or DLC, but we’ll leave it up to you to decide if the developers are on the right track:

Arkham City Robin Costumes

It’s great to see Robin’s new costume fully colored and rendered, and will hopefully prove that Rocksteady knows what they’re doing. While both the standard Robin and Red Robin skins seem completely at home within the reality of Arkham City, both this Animated series skin and that of Batman seem to stick out like a sore thumb. We’re all for camp and comic throwbacks, but the neon colors are definitely at odds with the inspired reasons behind the new design.

What’s your reaction to this first collection of skins? Are you hoping to see more designs released, or is the prospect of getting to play as Batman, Robin and Catwoman more than enough to pick up the game?

Batman: Arkham City brings plenty of familiar faces to gamers everywhere October 18, for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

  1. Using the Red Robin outfit and never looking back.

  2. meh. im playing it for batman not robin.

    • There needs to be a Nightwing costume and I’ll play through robins storyline. The “RED ROBIN” costume looks alright though.

      [Edited]

      • i wouldnt have put it exactly like that but yep pretty much :)

  3. Would love to see Nightwing up in there!

    • yup Nightwing is one of robins best costumes in my opinion, of course i do like his new look for the game though, the hood kinda reminds me of Moon Knight or Ezio

  4. This is Tim Drake right? Why do they have the Dick Grayson Batman: TAS version instead of the Tim Drake Version.

Also, I wonder if Catwoman will have some extra skins as well for her side missions. I would have loved a Tim Sale (The Long Halloween) Batman skin with extra long cape. Still hoping for a Batman Begins or TDK skin down the road.

It’s great to see Rocksteady doing so much extra for the fans. This is what the gaming industry needs to get back to. All this dedication for the fans and extra goodies included w/o a 15 dollar price tag. Even if they do decided to drop additional missions & gameplay months after the release, I would be happy to pay for it because I feel like some actual effort went into it and im sure it will be more than worth the price tag. Im glad that some publishers are still putting the product before the profit. Call of Duty. sigh.

    • TAS Tim Drake was to short.

  5. This isn’t going to be another two-month debate about Robin, is it? LOL

The first one looks a little odd to me… The character model seems to have an uncharacteristically large profile for Robin.

The second model looks pretty good, though.

The third? Only if you’re a die-hard fan of the classics. :P

    • Couldn’t have put it better man ;) If you pay close attention to the muscle volume and body chisel of the Red Robin, you’ll notice they differ quite a lot from the latter 2 Robins. The first model seems unproportionally bulked up to be the same person as in the 2nd costume(3d one is just cartoonish). Now if you compare it with the Batman render of the game,it appears as if they used the exact same thing, and redid his skin. Not only the body details, even the cowls seem copy-pasted.Who knows, maybe a more mature and physically grown Robin that resembles his master better?

      • Red Robin is a fully grown Tim Drake that gave up the mantle of Robin to Damien. No big conspiracy. Red Robin is a man while the others are teenagers. Thus the bigger frame.

        • Touche’. :P

  6. i was hoping for a redhood skin for roby here but what ever

  7. the third choice looks like a pedophile gay version

    • What the hell does that even mean?

  8. so how do i get robin? i cant pre order from best buy cos im from the UK so where do i pre order to get robin??

    • you can now preorder it from game UK

      • or gamestation

  9. Apparently you don’t know what “neon colors” are.

  10. i like the red robin skin, i liked tge custom design since it first appeared in count down to final crisis when jason todd wore it. i think the new 52 sucks major back side. the new 52 is the reason i stopped buying dc comics.
