A sequel to this year’s incredibly successful and critically appraised Batman: Arkham Asylum was just announced at today’s Spike TV Video Game Awards. Who would of thought?
A new website for the epic announcement surfaced, titled arkhamhasmoved.com, hinting that the sequel, also developed by Rocksteady, may unsurprisingly not take place within the confines of the asylum like the first time around. If you head to the site, you can see a billboard in the background with Uncle Sam holding a pistol. His face is concealed but one half of him is quite a bit different from the other. Who could that be hinting at I wonder?
In addition to that, a trailer was shown, emphasizing the streets of Gotham City and leading to an amusement park; the Joker’s new party area.

When I saw this during the VGA’s, I was blown away. I mean, we all knew the sequel to the first game would be coming at some point, but I did not expect to hear anything about it so soon. I am really really looking forward to this game. The “new” Arkham looks like a part of Gotham city now, like a few blocks of the city have been walled off to house these criminals. I am very excited to see more of this game.
Well there’s so many things i’d love to see like online co-op and such but more then anything i’d rather they take there time with this one so they can work out all the kinks and bugs out of it. I’ll be happy with some extra dlc for the arkham asylum till then. Also hopefully ps3 gets exclusive extras as well like AA did (none for the 360… They already got two episodes from gta4).
So… I’m thinking maybe we’ll be looking at a run at “The Dark Knight Returns”. Joker looks a lot older (which could be because of what happened at the end of the last game) and the Batman sign is crumbling, suggesting ageing.
Either way I’m excited. Unless they rush it out and simply make it a slightly bigger version of the same game (although lets face it, we’d still have fun with that), it should be good.
It would be nice to have a Sandbox type Gotham though.

I hope you mean Mr. Freeze, Riley. And really, as long as they make him the depressing, dark character he really is, unlike the atrocity Arnold portrayed, I’ll be happy.
I personally want more of Arkham Asylum’s Scarecrow. That was easily my favourite interpretation of him I’ve ever seen in the Batman IP.

It’s aslo possible that they are hinting at the Mad Hatter. Notice in the uncle sam picture how his face has been completely removed and none of the hat. I think its very possible that they are hinting at him as well.
I just listened through the Chronicles of Arkham (for the first time, I never bothered to listen to them all before) and I wouldn’t be surprised if Quinn plays a prominent role in the next one. Unless he’s long gone by then.

Actually, in the original comics, Mr. Freeze was more like the character Arnold played. The Animated Series was the one that made him more serious, depressed, and angry at the world. I think they have ret-conned that Mr. Freeze into the comics since then though.

The crumbling doesnt mean suggested aging or anything. I think this game takes place soon after the first one (enough tie that they can turn a part of Gotham into the new AA). Maybe the crumbling means that they might follow the No Man’s Land story arch? Earthquake hits Gotham? Who knows really.

I think the poster refers to Two Face. If you look at the body, the suit looks a little different on each side. One arm is pointing a finger while the other side holds a gun. Plus with the last games ending, I think its safe to assume two face is involved. Maybe he takes over part of this new Asylum? Again, no one knows. All specualtion from my part. I just am excited to see a sequel to the first AA.

So after looking at this trailer and the website … more then once, I have found out some information. And by found out some information, I mean I am totally speculating, but these are things I saw in the trailer. One, the Iceberg Lounge appears in the confines of Arkham. In the first game, the Iceberg Lounge was a club that was being opened by the Penguin. So maybe an appearance from him? Also the poster is of Two Face dressed as Uncle Sam, so most likely going to see him appear in the game.
