The Avengers Video Game

A couple weeks ago, we reported on the cancellation of The Avengers movie tie-in game - after THQ shuttered their Brisbane studio, the team responsible for bringing the superhero mash-up to gamers.

However, thanks to recently leaked video and screenshots from the title, we're getting a look at some of our favorite Marvel heroes in video game form - as well as an exhaustive look at high-profile game villains, who may or may not be the main baddies in the upcoming Avengers film.

There’s no way of knowing whether or not the characters featured in the images will even appear in the movie but there's no doubt that most of the information that we've heard regarding the project works in suspicious harmony with the images below. As we’ve previously warned over at Screen Rant, pre-release details, especially images, can contain MILD to MEDIUM SPOILERS for The Avengers. If you are attempting to avoid spoilers altogether for the film, please be advised to turn away now — you have been WARNED.

Check out the images of the potential Avengers villains below:

Comic book fans will quickly recognize the characters featured in the images as the infamous Skrulls - with a sneak peek at two brutish character models as well as a female version. It's definitely unlikely that the characters would have appeared this exaggerated in the feature film but they definitely would have provided some interesting gameplay scenarios in the video game - with heavy-hitter male Skrulls to beat-up as well as versatile females troopers to combat.

Until more information about The Avengers, which releases in the summer of 2012, becomes available there's no way of knowing whether or not the Skrulls featured in the game will also feature prominently in the film - or, like so many other movie tie-ins, the game designers may have included non-movie villains to act as fist-fodder.

While the game may have been defeated by the powers that be, production on The Avengers film is in full swing - check out all the details at our sister-site Screen Rant - HERE.
