‘Assassin’s Creed: Revelations’ Trailer Shows ‘The Life of Ezio Auditore’

AC:R Life of Ezio Trailer

There’s been a massive influx of trailers for Assassin’s Creed Revelations lately, but only a few have really gone into any specific details regarding story or characters. If anything, they’ve just managed to raise more questions much like the narrative of the games themselves. The latest Assassin’s Creed Revelations trailer titled ‘The Life of Ezio Auditore’ recaps portions of Ezio’s life from the past two games, and features some new footage from the upcoming game. Ezio is on hand to do the two things he does best: narrate trailers, and execute enemies with extreme prejudice.

One of the first things that the trailer shows is how much older Ezio is in this latest (and last) outing. The aging of Ezio drives home the idea of a story that takes place not just in a single adventure, but over one man’s lifetime, and the lifetimes of several characters throughout history.

As we already know, Ezio is following in the footsteps of his mentor Altaïr, the star of the original Assassin’s Creed. Meanwhile, this whole story is being viewed by Ezio’s future ancestor Desmond Miles, who at the start of the upcoming games is once again trapped in the Animus after the events of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. This alternative take on history is one of the central tenets of the franchise, but the personal tale of Ezio has only grown over time.

The trailer shows some intriguing events, such as Altaïr picking up the body of his mentor from the first game. Up next is some mission footage and a whole lot of combat. Make no mistake people, just because Ezio is older doesn’t mean he’s any less violent. In fact, if anything, the years of training and personal loss have made Ezio a very dangerous individual indeed.

See for yourself in the new trailer, ‘The Life of Ezio Auditore’. But be warned, the footage shown is from a Mature-rated game:

With new weapons, new enemies and new locales, it certainly seems like Revelations is much more than an expansion. We still can only guess at the game’s expansive story, but all it takes is one of these trailers to show why fans have stayed glued to the exploits of Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

In the closing moments of the trailer there is a quote from Ezio that carries particular weight.  Aside from perfectly capturing the spirit of Ezio, the line emphasizes the idea that secrets will be revealed by the end of Assassin’s Creed Revelations, but exactly how is still a mystery:

“Fate may command I die before the answers are discovered. But an assassin takes orders from no one.”

Considering how good the Assassin’s Creed games have been thus far, we here at Game Rant are pretty excited. What do you think? Will Ezio die in this latest outing? What truths could be revealed? Sound off in the comments below.

Assassin’s Creed Revelations will be released November 15th, 2011 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC release is slated for sometime in December.

  1. I got the first AC a while ago and didnt really play it to much but I finally beat it then I got AC2 a week ago and Ive been addicted to it and I just beat it tonight. I wanna get and beat brotherhood before this comes out.

    • I know exactly what you mean, AC2 is CRAZY addictive. And believe me, you’ll only need a week or two for Brotherhood, because it is even more addictive!

Just take AC2, add in better weapons, and the ability to recruit and train your very own Assassins, then send them on missions across Europe to level up. Ridiculous. I can’t wait to see what new systems they put in for AC3

      • Not to mention the online capability of ACB that can lend you tone of entertainment until ACR comes out.

      • Have they confirmed that you won’t have a cabal of assassins in this next game, Andrew? That was one of my favorite things about the last one…

      • Also the De Vinci disappearance has some interesting stuff towards the end and adds in a couple more achievements/trophies that adds some more content to the jam packed game that is AC:Brotherhood.

    • I was the same way with those games, but I was severely disappointed in Brotherhood, it completely lacked the story/depth/and heart that AC2 had.

  2. I’ve only just started AC2, so I’m not that far in. It started out kinda slow but now it’s starting to pick up. Hopefully I can finish this one and start Brotherhood before I get Revelations. I look forward to what Ezio finds out in the end of Revelations.

  3. I really hope that they have fixed all the screen tearing issues that plagued AC2 & ACB. Granted i did not play ACB all too much, however, it seemed like the screen issues were not addressed. Luckily the gameplay and story are extremely grand in both.

  4. Out of all the games coming out this fall and next year this one i’m reeally excited for. I started on AC2 then ACB then the first AC. I like them all. Brotherhood felt rushed so I didn’t enjoy it that much. Cesare was so whinny It got annoying. Plus *****spoiler*** I didn’t like how they killed Mario early off in it. ** But small price to pay for a crossbow!

    • Crossbow was godly in that game. Most people wrote it off as too expensive and didn’t bother buying it until late game. I bought it early and man did it make some of those missions way easier!

  5. My biggest hope is that when they roll out ACIII finally they’ll update the graphics a little. Trust me, no matter how awesome AC:Revelations is destined to be, it’ll get ripped apart for “aged” graphics, which has happened with Brotherhood. Myself, I’m counting the days to once again grace the ancient world with an aged assassin.

  6. Dude, the guy who wrote this, Altair isn’t Ezio’s ancestor. And of course he can’t die, he hasn’t had children yet.

    • Oh man you’re right! But as to the children, Ezio has slept around…so who knows how many kids he could have potentially had…

    • Also fixed that bit. Apparently the distinction between who was related to whom was only made rather recently: http://kotaku.com/5823431/what-i-thought-i-knew-about-assassins-creed-revelations-was-partially-wrong

      • Ugggghhhhhhhh my brain hurts. Always thought that whwn Altier took a romp in the hay in ACII that was showing the beginning of Ezio’s liniage. I just hope the series doesn’t end with Desmond being his own grampa…..no matter how fun Fry makes it look.

        • The “romp in the hay” (at least, from my viewpoint) was to show Desmond how Altair fathered a child. It was never part of the first game (Altair being a womanizer), but as Vivas pointed out above, Ezio has definitely had his share of “conquests.”

Though it can definitely be viewed (the hay scene) as how Altair fathered a child that led to Ezio. Apparently that’s not the case though.
