Assassins Creed 4 Wii U PS3 Content

After the big Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag announcement there are a few details worth mentioning for posterity's sake. Although we had heard rumors of a new Assassin's Creed for about a month now, it was only a few days ago that we received our first glimpse at Black Flag.

Now that Ubisoft has begun discussing the game we know that Assassin's Creed 4 will feature a new protagonist (a pirate that may be Connor Kenway's grandfather), a new setting (the Caribbean), and a new time period (the early 18th century). However, even more details regarding AC4 should hit some time on Monday, when the embargo for Ubisoft's press event lifts.

That said, the announcement of Assassin's Creed 4 also revealed that this new game will be headed to the Wii U. This doesn't come as too much of a surprise as Assassin's Creed 3 was counted among the console's 50+ launch window games. However, the quality of the port left something to be desired. Hopefully Ubisoft can do much better this time around.

Ubisoft also revealed that Black Flag would feature exclusive content for the PS3 version, about 60 minutes worth, in fact. Exclusive DLC and side missions are not something new, but apparently Sony secured some sort of deal with Ubi.

Ironically, this announcement of a PS3 exclusive comes just days after Ubisoft said they were looking to better ingratiate themselves with the PC gaming community. Well, this certainly won't help.

There was also no mention of PS4 of Xbox 720 in the Assassin's Creed 4 press release, but there's still plenty of time for that. Ubisoft has already endorsed Sony's next-gen console with Watch_Dogs, so it stands to reason AC4 could make the jump as well. But, with such a short turnaround, maybe there wasn't enough development time to get this Assassin's Creed on next-gen systems.

Will you be picking up the Wii U version of Assassin's Creed 4? Is the promise of 60 minutes of content enough of a reason to get the PS3 version?

Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag will presumably release in Fall 2013 on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC.
