Later this year, fans of the Assassin's Creed franchise will be rewarded with another yearly installment in the incredibly successful series. Ubisoft's crown jewel will be sticking it to The Crown this time around by embracing the pirate's life and raising that iconic black flag, but there's a lot more than naval battles and plundering in Assassin's Creed IV than the game's developer has led on thus far. In fact, there are a ton of new stealth mechanics that will come in handy for those skulking around the likes of enemy bases.

A new walkthrough, narrated by none other than game director Ashraf Ismail, showcases a number of the new stealth options that are at the disposal of players in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. As those who watched the video will already know, stealth tactics come in handy more than ever after the game's main protagonist, Edward Kenway, enters a hidden cavern via a diving bell — something that real people apparently used during the 18th century.

After emerging from the shark-filled depths of Black Flag's ocean, Kenway will run into some less-than-friendly individuals. While they'd usually be easily dispatched with the user's gear, Kenway will go diving sans equipment, which means he'll have to pull out tricks from his repertoire of death to come out of confrontations alive. Whistling to gain the attention of a rogue guard and then pilfering his knife or disarming a foe and using their own weapon against them are valid options, and there are plenty more techniques where they came from.

Fans have plenty of additional media drops pertaining to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag to look forward to leading up the the game's debut on current and next-gen consoles, but their patience will no doubt be rewarded when the game finally hits shores later this year. Meanwhile, dedicated AC enthusiasts can salivate over the tantalizing limited edition Black Flag bundle that was recently announced and begin clearing space on their shelf for that wicked figurine that comes with it.
