For those just itching to spend their time looting, plundering and overusing the sort-of-word “yaaarrrrgh,” Ubisoft has just released a few doubloons worth of information about their upcoming game, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. This comes in the form of a new trailer as well as the reveal for the limited edition version of the game.
While this certainly isn’t the first bit of footage we’ve seen from the game, and it won’t likely be the last video shown before release, this trailer does dwell more on the idea of the pirate. Entitled “A Pirate’s Life on High Sea,” the video goes out of its way to really lay on the feeling of what it’s like to walk the peg-legged pirate path. It also gives another excellent look at the scope of both the battle sequences and the game overall.
This may have been in response to the hiccup-filled showing at E3 that left many shaking their heads rather than raising their masts. While other clips have really dwelled on story, this one is simply there to give a strong sense of the amount of care that was taken to create this unique setting and feel for the game. It appears that this entry into the franchise could be the full-on departure from the norm that many were hoping for with Assassin’s Creed 3.
Now, on to the booty. After a fairly disappointing special edition accompanied the original Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft has made sure to really up the production value of nearly every release since then. With statues, soundtracks, flags, belt buckles and in-game items being just some of the goodies we’ve seen in the past releases, it’s nice to see that Ubisoft is still giving fans some fun tangibles to collect along with this franchise.
The seafaring folks over at Ubisoft have listed a pirate’s bounty that any scurvy seadog will be happy get their hands, or hand and hook, on. The Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Limited Edition comes with:
- Copy of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag
- A stunning 18” Assassin statue featuring Captain Edward Kenway
- An embroidered 28” x 48” iconic Assassin’s Creed pirate flag with crest
- Exclusive 80-page art book
- SteelBook game case
- Full game soundtrack

Ranters, will you be sailing the high seas to get your hands on this treasure? How will you be draping your embroidered pirate flag? Over the shoulder? Sash style? Classic do-rag? Never mind, we can all be surprised with pics on Twitter.
Players won’t have to plunder their wallets too hard for this set as it will only set them back $129.99. Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Limited Edition will be available for the PS3 and the Xbox 360 on October 29th. It will also be available on the new hotness of your choosing. A date will likely be given once an actual launch date for those consoles is revealed. Hopefully by way of cool pirate video, as well.
