Imagine if instead of our beloved first President and major player in the war to win our country, George Washington had instead turned into a tyrannical king, who turned the colonies into his own monarchy. That's exactly what Assassin's Creed 3 is doing with their forthcoming DLC, the appropriately titled 'The Tyranny of King Washington."

A trailer for the DLC premiered on the Spike Video Game Awards earlier tonight and, while it doesn't show any gameplay from the  AC3 expansion, it does appropriately set up this alternate take on history. And it ends with the image gamers saw a couple months ago: a crowned George Washington seated on a throne with a menacing grin.

Assassins Creed 3 King Washington Trailer

But who will be able to stop an overzealous and power hungry king like Washington? Well, none other than Assassin's Creed 3 protagonist Connor, who appears to be donning an animal skin outfit at the tail end of the trailer.

Hopefully, in addition to new story missions, The Tyranny of King Washington will also feature more collectibles, outfits, and weapons for players to seek out. But since this trailer is more of a CG-based teaser than a fully fledged trailer, we'll just have to wait and see.

How do you feel about Ubisoft so directly altering history? Do you think they will be bold enough to have players kill Washington?

We'll have the official trailer shortly, but in the mean time follow Game Rant on Twitter and watch all of the Spike Video Game Awards trailers and unveilings here.

Assassin's Creed 3 - The Tyranny of King Washington is targeting an early 2013 release date for all major platforms.
