Assassin's Creed 2011 Details Coming in May

Confirmed via an investor call with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot today is the news that a new Assassin’s Creed title is in development and is set for release some time in 2011. Though Ubisoft has been very forthcoming with their feelings towards the franchise — saying they hope to release AC titles as frequently as possible — most gamers didn’t expect to see them crank another one out quite so fast.

While the call did confirm the existence of a new Assassin’s Creed title, it did not address the setting for the game, only stating that more details will be revealed in May. After Brotherhood ventured, once again, into the world of 15th Century Italy, the world of Assassin’s Creed was completely tipped on its heads.

No longer were players stuck to the belief that each new title would feature a new time period, nor would the game be strictly a single player experience. Instead, players have since learned to expect the unexpected when it comes to the popular franchise. Game Rant even took to the speculation, imagining what an Assassin’s Creed 3 might look like.

On top of the announcement that a new title would be releasing this year, Guillemot did confirm that Ubisoft has something cooking in the oven for 2012 as well. Though he didn’t say it directly, he did indicate that there would be something that relates to Assassin’s announced.

Having already proved that the Assassin’s Creed franchise is not adverse to mobile or handheld iterations, perhaps this May will see the release of a Nintendo 3DS title. As the hot new console for 2011, it would behoove Ubisoft to, at some point, release an Assassin’s Creed for the platform.

Speculation is sure to run rampant as to what this Assassin’s Creed title could be, but with more news to hit in May — coincidentally the month before E3 takes place — players can expect a big presentation from Ubisoft. As always, stay tuned to Game Rant for any news regarding this next iteration in the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

What type of Assassin’s Creed title would you hope to see release this year: a 3Ds title or Assassin’s Creed 3? Where and when would you like to see the next entry in the franchise take place?

wondering would an assassins creed game work well set in modern times or very recent history. having a large open city and dealing with a cult like group of people.
    just a thought.

why they already have the modern templars as a an enemy

put the game in an urban enviorment. i want to see blade style swords and a gun with a silencer instead of daggers.

They could use AC: The Fall as a setting… Modern… nice… a continuation of Ezio’s story would not be frowned upon.. but I’d rather that they move on with a new character… but also… It should NOT be AC3 or for the 3DS. AC titles on consoles are the ones that sell the most… and 3 should be the big concluding tale and should be released on 2012.

I hope they have the next one during WW1/2… Maybe in the present at some point to… after all, desmond does have the bleeding effect… i feel it would be a waste if the dont have one starring him (not just his ancestors) running from buildings and killing crooked cops/templars…

I would love one in WW1/2 era, Spanish Inqusition (not sure if thats before or after ezios time)…

At the end of Brotherhood, they got the piece of eden, so I dont know why they would need to go back for those memories…

well i want to know what happens after he kills Lucy. after all we know that happened for some reason. If you did the puzzles and got the message it said “the miracle is in the execution” What is the miracle, why was it a miracle. I would like these questions to be answered in one of them soon. I dont know about the others, but i really enjoyed the story and would like to continue it with out going off into other tangents.

i honestly think that desmond is the reincarnation of adam. i mean there was a lot talk in the game about adam and eve. for instance AC 2’s secret video… i’m guessing those two were adam and eve. and the “apple” is a huge piece of evidence that the game’s secretly revolved around adam and eve. and i believe when desmond killed lucy, the ones who came before (i think thats what they’re called) said that he needs to find another woman. im guessing that woman may be the reincarnation of eve.

what im getting at is the execution was Lucy (clearly) and the miracle is the reincarnation of eve
