Earlier this year we told you that the official European Twitter page for Ape Escape, ApeClub, had tweeted about a new game in the series - to be launched later this year.

Today, things get a little more official, with a proper title and other details - Ape Escape Fury! Fury!, which is currently confirmed for a Japanese release.

What we know so far is the game allows you to play in first person perspective, and this time you'll be using the PlayStation Move controller to round up the little fuzz balls. However, this isn't your standard FPS, considering the game will be on rails, which is definitely disappointing.

My first, and only, experience with the Ape Escape series was on the original PlayStation, and I recall having a lot of fun with it. This time around, I had expected the same level of platforming fun but in HD. While I'm sure Ape Escape Fury! Fury! will be enjoyable, a shooting gallery game isn't exactly what I was hoping for.

Ape Escape Fury! Fury! PlayStation Move

The game certainly looks good, with crisp, clean graphics, but the true test will be how it handles with the Move peripheral.

I had hands-on time with the PlayStation Move at a Sony event at PAX East, and I wasn't floored - since, in my opinion, I've done it all on the Wii. Of course, that didn't stop it from being fun and I expect Ape Escape Fury! Fury! to be a solid title once it's released.

There's no official release info available at this time as to when the game will be out in Japan (or if it will even make it State-side), though GameStop has hinted at an Ape Escape title on their site. We can only assume this is the same game, if so we'll get Ape Escape Fury! Fury! sometime in 2011. The GameStop listing merely reads Ape Escape, though I'm sure it won't have the "Fury! Fury!" subtitle when it comes to North America.

Ranters, how do you guys feel about a new Ape Escape game? A better question, how do you feel about an Ape Escape game on rails? Sound off in the comments.
