Angry Birds Star Wars Prequel Trilogy

As far as mobile games go it's hard to top the Angry Birds franchise. Spanning several sequels and offshoots the series that pits poultry against swine (or vice versa in the case of Bad Piggies) has become a global phenomenon.

So much so that developer Rovio has begun to partner their Angry Birds IP with some of the most popular brands around, culminating in the release of Angry Birds Star Wars last year. However, Angry Birds Star Wars was seemingly only phase one, covering the original trilogy (Episodes 4-6).

Now, it appears Rovio is ready to reveal another Angry Birds Star Wars game, this one presumably based around the prequel trilogy. Yes, that probably means Jar Jar and young Anakin, but on the bright side it's more Angry Birds Star Wars.

Rovio teased the news on their site with the image seen below, which features an Angry Birds riff on the iconic poster for Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, and the promise that more details will arrive on Monday July 15th. Those details will include, according to Rovio, the "biggest character line-up ever, awesome new powers, and maybe even a few surprises."

As far as characters are concerned it's a pretty safe bet that all of the key role players from Phantom all the way to Sith will make at least a brief appearance. If we had to guess, we would say Mace Windu, young Obi Wan Kenobi, Qui Gon Jinn, and Jango Fett all sound like prime candidates for this next Angry Birds Star Wars adventure.

But really, it's all about Darth Maul. If Rovio doesn't milk Darth Maul for all he's worth that will be the biggest missed opportunity in all of this. Also, it might be cool to see an Angry Birds version of pod racing.

Again, Rovio will provide more details about this next phase of the Angry Birds Star Wars saga on July 15th.

What do you hope to see from Angry Birds Star Wars' interpretation of the sequels? Are there any characters or powers that must be included?
