Fans eagerly awaiting additional roster reveals for the highly anticipated pair of Super Smash Bros. games for Wii U and 3DS have been left out to dry in recent weeks. The last character reveal, Diddy Kong, happened over a month ago now, which is at odds with the previous tradition of revealing a character every month. While gamers are understandably disgruntled over the lack of combatant confirmations, there hasn't been a lack of other details to surface for the games.

Some of the more talked about reveals have come in the form of Assist Trophies. Many characters that franchise creator Masahiro Sakurai believes are noteworthy have been given representation in the game through an item known as an Assist Trophy, and lately these confirmations have debunked hopes that many fans have had about seeing certain characters become playable. Skull Kid and Waluigi have been debunked as possible fighters in recent updates, and now Andross has been confirmed to reprise his role from Brawl as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.

Sakurai's latest MiiVerse post is awkwardly phrased, as are most from the famed dev, but there may be a hint hidden within the message itself.

"Pic of the day. Oh, Uncle Andross. He really isn't very considerate."

Andross has never really been considered seriously for a playable role in Super Smash Bros. as a result of his massive stature, but the immense and evil cyborg monkey does have a particular member of his family that may be eligible for inclusion. Andrew Oikonny, often referred to by the Star Fox crew and others by his surname, is the nephew of Fox McCloud's arch enemy Andross. When being shot down by Fox in Star Fox 64, the character would often cry out "Uncle Andross" in a vain attempt to gain some sort of assistance — dialogue that Sakurai has directly referenced in his latest post.

This is in all odds just a clever nod to past Star Fox titles and Andross' lineage, because Oikonny is not a very prominent character from the franchise. Taking that into consideration, there are plenty of other Star Fox characters that could still make the cut for the next Super Smash Bros., with Krystal being one of the most requested, so it'll be interesting to see how the final roster pans out.
