PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has been on store shelves for a few weeks now, and for the most part it's delivered some solid four-player mayhem — albeit somewhat light on content. SuperBot Entertainment already announced plans to begin adding more stuff via DLC to the game before it even hit store shelves — promising roster additions in the form of Starhawk's Emmet Graves and Gravity Rush's Kat — and best of all it'll be free for two weeks after it's released. Other than news that those two characters were en route, however, there's been no other media to keep fans engaged... until now.

Screenshots showing off Kat and Emmet in action were released during a media event last night at Santa Monica Studios, and it was also confirmed that a brand new stage will be joining the upcoming combatants. PlayStation.Blog recently put up a post detailing the move sets of each new member joining the All-Stars Battle Royale roster, and they've reconfirmed that both combatants will come packaged with a unique arsenal. Kat will bend gravity to her will in order to execute her attacks (just as she does in Gravity Rush), meanwhile, Emmet will build armaments to subdue foes; taking a page straight from Starhawk.

While the addition of new characters is much appreciated, the inclusion of a new map will help unite the worlds of Heavenly Sword and Wipeout into one of the craziest levels in Battle Royale. The stage is called Fearless, and it starts on top of the famous falling pillar of Heavenly Sword fame. As the battle progresses, ships from Wipeout will begin filtering into the foreign world, and they'll cause the pillar to come crashing down to a new battlefield.

While all of this new content will add some desirable options to PlayStation All-Stars, players can look forward to a number of minor alterations coming much sooner. A patch is inbound for the crossover-centric fighter, and it'll tweak a few settings — and even add a new item. A weapon called Medusa's Gaze, which presumably comes from God of War, will be arriving alongside changes to the Party Bar Menu and network performance updates. Meanwhile, Sackboy will be on the receiving end of some downgrades, as the character gets nerfed as a result of being unbalanced.

The patch will include the following:

  • A new item, Medusa's Gaze, has been added to the game
  • View Invites has been added to the Party Bar Menu
  • AI logic enhancements
  • Network performance improvements
  • Issue where players were stuck with a different character than the one picked has been addressed
  • Issue with matchmaking in regards to player skill has been addressed
  • Overall improvements to network connectivity

Sackboy changes

  • Level 1 Super - Increase cost from 100 to 150 AP
  • Level 2 Super - Increase cost from 325 to 400 AP
  • Level 3 Super - Increase cost from 600 to 750 AP
  • Jam Session (Neutral Triangle) - Reduced AP generation from 25 down to 10 AP
  • Cakeinator (Neutral Circle) - Reduced AP generation from 25 down to 20 AP

There are some serious changes coming to PS All-Stars, and there are likely even more still to come. More downloadable characters and stages seem like a given, especially since the voice actor for Snake has already had his involvement with the project confirmed, so it's only a matter of time before fans get to see what else SuperBot has up its sleeve. For now, gamers can look forward to the new patch landing at some point in the next week. The arrival of Kat, Emmet, and that new stage, on the other hand, won't be until the new year.
