New ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’ Screenshots & Developer Interview

 by

Despite being announced a few years back, Aliens: Colonial Marines isn’t releasing until 2013. Fans will have to wait patiently until then to partake in some Xenomorph-killing, though these new screenshots should help tie them over — or make them more excited! Either way, the game looks good.

SEGA hasn’t shown of much of the multiplayer component for Aliens: Colonial Marines, especially in regards to Xenomorphs. Details are still sparse, but at least we’ve got a look at the game’s multiplayer lobby. The screenshots show a variety of “challenges” in the bottom right. Much like the Call of Duty series, we assume completing these challenges will net bonus XP to help with leveling up.

The screenshots also show off a new Xenomorph breed: the Crusher. The Crusher uses it’s head to charge at enemies. It’s sort of like a rhinoceros, except not as adorable and it bleeds acid.

Check out the screenshots below!

The game has also served as one the premier third-party Wii U titles. Gearbox has constantly talked up the specs of the Wii U, and how Aliens: Colonial Marines will be best on Nintendo’s latest console. In the a recent developer (which you can see below), Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford once again talks about how the Wii U controller will make the game all the more immersive.

Using the Wii U controller as a motion tracker should offer its thrills, though whether it will be enough to pull dedicated PS3/Xbox 360 gamers to the Wii U remains to be seen. As a whole though, Gearbox’s latest is shaping up nicely; environments look nice and spooky, and the game should offer plenty of new insight into the Aliens universe to keep any fan entertained.

Aliens: Colonial Marines will release February 12, 2013, on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U.

  1. I’m really excited for this game, especially on the Wii U. Being able to actually hold the motion tracker in your hands and seeing that blip coming up from behind you, not you on the TV screen but, YOU actually in the room is amazing. This can bring a whole new level of immersion to gameplay, I can’t wait.

  2. You know, after seeing some of these other tech demos, this is already looking very dated, lol. The game looks like it might be pretty cool though. Love the Alien universe…

    • Heck, I thought I was the only one…

Those screenshots are less than impressive.
