The 5 Most Underused 'Assassin's Creed' Series Characters
It's no secret that the characters of the Assassin's Creed series are one of the major aspects that set it apart from other third-person action titles. With heroes, villains and colorful characters strong enough to bring award-winning actors into a film version, Ubisoft is clearly doing something right.
With Assassin's Creed 3, the Renaissance has been left behind for a brand new setting, and a hero worthy of a series all his own. So while the developers may feel that the previous settings and cast has seen all the attention they deserve, we politely disagree.
Looking back on the series to date, there are a few characters in particular that we can't help but feel didn't get enough attention.
Great picks, except that nude party dude..I honestly don’t see why we’d delve much into his character..prolly some more party missions and that’s it :S But Yusuf and Suleiman definitely interesting characters, and I’m pretty sure if they put more character time with them, Revelations would have gotten a higher scores all around. Ezio’s siblings too, it actually was pretty funny how Fredrico kept on putting him down lol and as for Claudia, it’d be cool to see where she got her moves from.
Great picks, but no love for the first Assassin’s Creed? I think Malik should have been shown more. At least in Altairs memories in revelations. I was saddened to know he was killed without even being shown.
the same thing happened to Ezio’s mother. they never said she died, but you have to look it up yourself to see that it did. Nobody cares at all. And Altair’s memories…if ever a part of this game had to be redone, that was the one. Second only to the Desmond segments.
They were cool, but could have shown much more. Like when he had kids or even a picture of the son who died and when he made his invincible armor…which he didn’t wear for some reason. And then he had Eagle Sense and Ezio’s move -et which just threw things out of whack for me in terms of continuity.

Definitely Malik. He’s one of my favorite characters in the entire Assassin’s Creed series, despite his underplayed role in the first game and the pathetic mention of him in Revelations. (Altair mentioned his name once.) I won’t lie when I say that the prospect of seeing Malik again in the Altair memories was perhaps the biggest source of excitement I had for AC: Revelations, and it became one of the biggest disappointments when it didn’t follow through.
As a person that helped bring about a major character change in Altair, I feel like Malik was more than deserving of a greater role, or at least more game time. And as many fans might agree with me, the banter between Altair and Malik whenever you visited the bureau in Jerusalem was the funniest in the original game. Malik was perhaps the only assassin that could easily go toe-to-toe with Altair and come out victorious.
I realize that Malik’s story was touched upon and finished in the book, The Secret Crusade, but seeing how he and Altair became so close throughout their lives–to the point of being almost brothers–the events within this book should have been at least MENTIONED in Revelations. A simple voiceover from Altair would have worked, just to say ‘This is what happened.’ I mean, Malik took over the HQ at Masyaf, had a son, and then was framed, imprisoned, and then brutally murdered by an assassin-turned-corrupt just to get back at Altair. Isn’t that worth something game-wise?
One could hope that Malik might make an apperance once more within the Assassin’s Creed universe, or even young Tazim, (Malik’s son, for those who have yet to read The Secret Crusade) though chances of that actually happening are scarce. And as for the miniature rant I have left here, I apologize, thought I’m certain that I am not the only one who feels this way.
I TOTALLY agree with you. Malik should have appeared at least ONE time in Revelations. For God’s sake! He was so important in Altaïr’s life and for the Brotherhood! Or at least Ubisoft could had present Tazim as well, I mean, the REAL Tazim, not the asshole they put on “The Mentor’s return” memory.
I really hope one day someone will make a game with more of Tazim or Malik stuff.

I totally agree that Claudia as a character was completely underused. I would love to play an AC that was centered on her as a character. (Even if it is just an add on set of missions) She is definitely as awesome as her brother, and I was always a little disappointed when playing brotherhood that we didn’t get to see much of her character arc that resulted in her becoming an assassin, other than a little bit of what went on at the brothel.
There’s a lot to be said for the Ubisoft team, that they have developed such a rich and textured world that we want more of even the secondary characters.

Whoa, I absolutely loved the Altair sections in Revelations. Is that what you’re referring to?

Federico and Claudia I really agree on. I wish we’ve seen more of Federico
