2011 Black Friday Video Game Sales

It's that time of year again, Ranters. The magical corporate holiday after Thanksgiving and before Christmas known as Black Friday is nearly upon us. While the auspicious day isn't until November 25, several sales fliers have already begun to show up online. Black Friday falls in the busiest release month of the year for games. Indeed, this year is no exception. As such, many of your favorites and hotly anticipated titles are up for grabs for prices that are nothing short of insane.

Check out the Black Friday deals from four of the biggest games retailers around: Best Buy, Kmart, Walmart, GameStop

Best Buy's list of Black Friday deals leaked early, found its way online, and was a revelation for anyone thinking about buying an Assassin's Creed game this week. Assassin's Creed Revelations releases this week, but those of you patiently stalking Ezio's next adventure may want to consider holding off on a purchase. The highlights of the advert is Assassin's Creed Revelations for the incredible price of $34.99. The Best Buy deal also lists several other new/recent releases for $29.99.

But wait...that's not all! For the first time ever, Best Buy will offer free shipping on everything, and many of the Black Friday deals will be available online this year.

MGS HD Black Friday Kmart

The big K is celebrating this Black Friday with a slew of deals that it is aptly calling its 'Blue Friday' promotion. What's nice about Kmart's list is that they had the courtesy to mention which deals will be doorbusters and which will be running all day. Unfortunately, the Friday doorbuster deals also happen to be the best deals the store is offering, and seem to outweigh the other Friday and Saturday promotions.

Some of the highlights from Kmart's offerings for Black Friday include Driver: San Francisco for $20, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection, Rage, Kinect Sports Season 2 and Dance Central 2 for $30 each, and finally, Battlefield 3 or Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for $35 each. Considering the store opens at 5AM on Friday, you may want to get there early if you want to stake out Kmart.

Blue Wii Black Friday Walmart

The house that Sam Walton built is tossing out $50 gift cards like party favors this Black Friday while also hammering home the point that a few Benjamins will go a long way. In fact, $200 will net you your choice of a 160 GB PS3 console with 2 games and 3 months of PlayStation Plus membership, an Xbox 360 4GB with Gears of War 3, 3 months of Xbox Live, and a $50 gift card, or an Xbox 360 4GB with KinectKinect Adventures, and a $50 gift card.

The biggest feather in Walmart's cap has to be the exclusive sale of the blue Wii in North America, which was originally offered in Europe as part of the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games bundle. How much will this exclusive blue Wii cost? A bill. Yes that's right...for the incredibly low price of $100 you can net yourself a blue Wii.... provided you can push past a bunch of people desperate to get their hands on Super Mario Galaxy for $20.

Speaking of software, Walmart seems to have that angle pretty well covered too. inFamous 2, Killzone 3, Batman: Arkham City, Gears of War 3, Madden NFL 12, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Battlefield 3 are all going for $28. Some other classics that are being sold at a bargain include Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, God of War III, and LittleBigPlanet which will all be on sale for $15 each. For Wii enthusiasts, the biggest deal on offer is the limited edition copy of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (which comes with a music CD and a gold Wii Remote plus) for $60.

GameStop Black Friday Sales

The last dedicated brick-and-mortar sales bastion for video games is offering up some nice, if somewhat predictable, deals on hardware and software this Black Friday. In all fairness, some of GameStop's Friday-only deals are pretty good. Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, Dead Rising 2, Super Street Figther IV: Arcade Edition, and LA Noire are all being slashed to $20. Rage, Sonic Generations, Portal 2, and Crysis 2 are being marked down to $30, though we should mention that the markdown on Rage will only be available on Friday. Forza 4 and Gears of War 3 are both marked down for $40 for Friday only, while Rayman Origins and Battlefield 3 will see that markdown last for the entirety of the Black Friday weekend. GameStop also sets itself apart from the other retailers mentioned in this article by being the only one offering any kind of deals on PSP or PC games, though the pickings are pretty slim.
